FPSO=Floating Production Storage n Offloading.
...Its a floating vessel, where can drill, produces oil, storage it n offload it to smaller vessels
FPSO as Greenoil rightly said is an acronym for Floating Production Storage and Offloading. FPSO are usually big stationary ships use for producing crude oil, processing crude oil, store crude oil and Offload to a moving ship once the crude oil gets to a certain volume usually above 500000barrels. FPSO dont drill crude oil, it is FDPSO that Drills, Produce, Stores and Offload Crude. If people tell you they work offshore, it means they either work on a rig, FSO, fixed production platforms or FPSO. Examples of FPSOs are AKPO FPSO owned by TOTAL, BONGA FPSO owned by shell, AGBAMI FPSO owned by Chevron, Usan FPSO, FPSO mystrass e.t.c Looking at those listed positions, it means the company is an oil servicing company. If you have been dreaming of working offshore,and you have the experience, this is a good opportunity for you. I hope this little piece of mine helps. Name some FDPSO u knw. FDPSO is a new name given to differ an ordinary FPSO vessel dat u can't drill 4 crude. Get dat bruv.

@GreenOil, reliableengineer is right. FPSO's don't drill. During project development for an offshore field all producer and injector wells are drilled prior to positioning of the FPSO either with jackup rigs, semisubs or drillships depending on the water depth. The completed subsea wells are then tied in to the FPSO with umbilical flowlines.
FDPSO's on the other hand include derricks that enable drilling/workover as the case may be. I'm not conversant with FDPSO's as they are relatively new and i'm not sure we have them in Nigerian waters.

Buckwild, dnt get me wrong reliableengineer was right. Wat i meant was dat FPSO are placed close or attachd to a drilling platform, but 4 FDPSO, a drilling platform is built on it. For now we have just one FDPSO in the world n it is called ''AZURITE FDPSO"
