Screening Requirements:



Education: Graduation from a college or university with a specialisation in computer science or related discipline; or an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required by the position.



Language: Fluency in the English language (written and oral). The ability to communicate in French is an asset. Knowledge of any of the main Nigerian languages would be an asset.



Experience: A minimum of five years relevant work experience in a similar position. Planning and maintaining budgets, providing competent user support over the telephone and in person; supporting and administering a LAN and its environment; supporting commercial off?the?shelf software and current informatics hardware; support of mobile communications devices; identifying and resolving complex problems or issues in the informatics field.

Job Resume:



Information Technology Professional:



Under the functional supervision of the Client Services Regional Manager and the administrative supervision of the Mission Administration Officer, manages/provides problem resolution and technical support to the client community at missions in the daily use of the LAN, SIGNET and other informatics or communication hardware and software; manages/provides remote problem resolution and technical support to the client community in one or more micro/small missions on the daily use of the mission=s various IM and IT systems; develops IMIT operational procedures/practices and input to long range and annual plans for the mission, and has budget planning and control responsibilities as they relate to IT systems, to ensure the provision of technical and operational support for IM and IT systems and their environment over the short and long term; maintains a good understanding of content and location of manufacturers' literature, departmental informatics and IM policies and procedures, LAN documentation, network diagrams, network server(s) configurations, hardware/software specifications and technical guides, workstation diagrams and configuration documentation, telephony-related documentation, etc.; supervises a staff, as assigned;





Rated Qualifications:



Knowledge:

$ Thorough knowledge and understanding of components and capabilities of microcomputer systems, Windows Server 2000/2003 and Windows Workstation XP.

$ Knowledge of file management and directory structures. Good understanding of the concepts of Windows architecture, security and commands, networking, network configuration, LAN architectures and technology.

$ Good knowledge and understanding of Windows applications; LAN network tools, e.g. printer sharing and routing, client/server applications.

$ Theory and practice of local area networking, internetworking and communications.

$ Knowledge of mobile communications devices, including Blackberry.

$ Knowledge of emerging technologies, software development in IT industry. Continuing study of appropriate technical manuals, trade periodicals, technical papers, study groups, computer trade shows, seminars, to keep current on latest applications.

$ Knowledge of information management techniques and practices.

$ Office/administrative procedures.

$ A sound knowledge of English with good oral and written skills.

Conditions of Employment:

Ability to work on-sight at the Canadian High Commission, Abuja, F.C.T., Nigeria. The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to a Reliability Check obtained by Management. To conduct the Reliability Check (RC), the candidate will have to submit the following documents on being selected by the mission.

1) Police clearance certificate. (Character Certificate)

2) Letter of recognition from your bank stating your name, years

of client service and your address.

3) Professional and educational certificates.
