Description

  • will work with a team of professionals towards optimising the controls framework and build a robust control environment. This role requires a candidate with strong understanding of risk and control requirements and procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution of Operational control plan & strategy in conjunction with regional functional leadership and country business management.
  • To liaise with Management across all operational areas to ensure a strong ops controls framework is in place. Represent Ops Controls in relevant meetings and forums in Africa.
  • Management and development of staff including training and professional development, career management and performance management
  • Ensure compliance with global and regional functional policies, procedures and programmes relating to operations.
  • Management of operations risk and control utilising key performance indicators.
  • Identification and implementation of control initiatives which add value and enhance performance
  • Conducting periodic reviews & checks to identify process gaps including advisory and ad-hoc projects
  • Evaluation of Significant Control Events (e.g., negative metric trends, operating losses and “at risk” balances, frauds) for area of responsibility including performing deep dives of significant losses and performing root cause analysis of significant control-related issues
  • Ensuring MCA properly covers risks & controls for area of responsibility and quarterly self-assessments are complete and correct
  • Close monitoring of the IA, regulatory and other reviews. Analysis of underlying themes and trends, sharing with stakeholders, working with stakeholders on corrective action and to ensure a state of audit readiness at any point of time.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with relevant stakeholders at Africa and regional level.


Knowledge/Experience:

  • People and remote team management skills with ability to work across borders and time zones to accomplish business and financial results
  • Experience and ability to work with matrix/functional management structure to maintain and co-ordinate working relationships across multiple geographies, cultures and time zones
  • Country and/or regional leadership experience
  • Experience of applying strong management disciplines, governance controls, change management and initiatives
  • Management and delivery of results. Demonstrable achievement of rigorous objectives and outcomes
  • Local market place knowledge from a commercial, business and political perspective would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated "change agent" in a broad and diverse environment
  • Knowledge of Citi businesses and operations located in Africa would be beneficial

Qualifications:

  • BA / BS Degree with a strong operational/business background
  • 10+ years Banking Operations/Control/Business support.
  • MBA/CA/CPA desirable
