Hi guys. Does anyone have sample questions on the Chevron electrical skills test? Any help or tips will be greatly appreciated.
lets share please.
Seconded
Would appreciate getting any sample materials as well.
@osazee; for now it should be wise to go through theory and calculations on motors, generators, transmission, distribution and ac circuit fundamentals. Good and helpful text; Theraja
@dynamo1 please check your inbox. I sent a PM Thanks.
@TheJoker, I have responded
Just to appreciate God for seein me tru these tryin times and to dose in d same shoes.Tru dese times I have learnt Obedience.Brothers let Us not soil our hands In somethin that we cant give an accurate testimony about. Jesus sees my hrt, I refuse to be part of any Impure and Unjust motive of corruption and I knw there those who hold on to this too. And this is out to encourage you,Even tho dragnet did not Invite me for skills test I am happy becoz I still got my credentials which is a clean Hrt and conscience towards heaven. To those who are looking Up to God, remember....The God you look up to Has promised to Be there when Its terrible.God is in control. We will make it, and in a clean way, coz every Good and perfect gift comes from God.God bless you all.
If u don't make it this time, keep on believing in God and raise all hopes high, cos even if u eventually get the job, remember a day will com when if the job doesn't leave u, u'll definitely have to leave it. Always remember to keep a clean path, cos this life is a temporary abode.
Please, Nobody should come to this forum and console himself or herself just because he or she wasnt selected for the skill test or make statements that suggest that those who passed cheated. You have got to think of the next opportunity, Prepare and trust God for his favour.
Adequate preparatn, absolute trust in GOD & maintaining d right attitude wil ultimately lead u 2 ur desired goal.
I will take a minute and give an answer to the guys asking how some of us succeeded in the test. First is confidence. i think part of the problem is because we have so much gotten used to all these expo flying about online we have lost self-confidence in the peak of an examination. I wrote in port harcourt and the number of materials flying about was just too much and I personally decided not to touch any of them. Its not because I want to form that I am a saint but because you have to understand how your brain works.
When you obtain expo and enter the hall, automatically your brain will be trying to remain and match what you are seeing right there in the exam to the expo yo have already seen and believe me it wastes precious seconds...and in tests like this seconds matter! I proved this with experiments I conducted on myself back those days in school. So first advice, do as much practice as possible with online practice but willingly refuse to see what some call expo but I call liability.
Sleep well and do not be anxious. I was so anxious until I decided to start playing fifa video game on the morning of any aptitude test and an hour before I leave my house I sleep very well and drink cold water and off I go.
Of course, believe that God wants you to be successful. Many people pray with a hidden fear that God may not will for them to pass. this is not true. God wills for you to pass though of course everybody cannot reach the cut off. that does not mean you are dull, just that some scored higher.
i wrote a dragnet test for a company i did not want to work for as a test for how their tests looks like and i have passed all my dragnet tests after that first survey. NEVER GET DEPRESSED, YOU ARE VERY GOOD!
....and if i may add, its possible to finish all in all the sections. i finished verbal at the last second, i had 3 mins left in the numericals and actually 2 numbers did not have answers and i left them blank and i had 4 mins left after my abstract. Once again, never be depressed, remember God has made you to be very good and YES! YOU CAN!
How come our ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING facility engineer are not contributing - or aint no one preparing for skill test like I am?
dear i'm in the same situation as u r. i am quite surprised that ppl haven't replied u now. does it mean a lot of ppl were not called for the skill's test.
if u do find any past Qs, pls notify me. i will do the sam e here.
good luck and have a good day
i believe it will also be wise to revise load flow analysis, short circuit analysis as well as per-unit calculations...
Pls,when did you guys receive invite for the electrical position.
Pls tell us wat date and time did u receive ur invite and wat venue did u take ur test-there are a lot more who av note being invite niether av dey received any regetion mail - u are the first set am noticing-I will appreciate ur response while wishing u best of luck
Chevron has called all the people they need for skill test for the Facility Engr series across all centres and virtually everyone got the invite saturday afternoon. Like we always say in this nhj, if u av not got IV yet, move on. It is purely a function of cut-off and if you didn't score up to that, they didn't send u IV for d skills test. It is that simple.
All the best to those who got invited, it is your time. Make the best of the opportunity. It is a race against very competent and equally qualified folks like you. Pray, pay the price (study well) and you'll see God at work.
PS: I doubt if Chevron send regret mails o, so I don't advise anyone to bring that up here; you are invited or not, simple!

For those yet that haven't received the invite for the FE position all I can say is that life goes on, not everyone was bound to be called [the cut-off might have been very high so if you didn't get called it doesn't mean you are not good]. More opportunities still to come, with the gathered experience from writing the Dragnet test at least you are in a better position to do better next time.
For those wondering how those that passed the Dragnet test made it, many ppl have already contributed as regards that but I guess I can re-emphasize that you don't need to see the questions before hand to make it through. As long as you already know the GSE format you are good to go. All you need to do is PREPARE which involves going through lots of practice questions. IMPROVE on your weaknesses [which is usually verbal for engineers], don't feel you have no business with Verbal Reasoning coz u r an Engr. Finally, during the test itself, be CONFIDENT and stay FOCUSED on the test at hand forgetting any previous information you heard or saw and try to tackle the problem that lies before you. If you have written a Dragnet test before then that should help in letting you know how to MANAGE YOUR TIME during the test, that's of utmost importance...
*Forgive the typos please* No time to prove read this long literature before posting it
Re: Chevron facilities engineer (mechanical) skill test
please has no one been invited for the mechanical/facilities engineer skills test yet? where all the mech boys dey now?!
I pray the God u serve does the same miracle for me....I am happy for you.
Gd luck 2 al writn dia skil test 2mao..Gods grace is sufficient
@6footplus, I was invited for the skills test too. Do you have any material that can be used for preparation? What areas should one concentrate on for reading?
Pls those writing their skill test today (Triple C et. al) should update us wit d necessary info...
please which one is skills test, i wrote the chelvron-dragnet exam in abuja and no result yet, please elaborate
@all pls I got a pre-employment data form mail to fill from EPCM engineers, house I wanna know, did any body got same mail from them, how α̲̅я̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ they? Do they pay well? Any body who has an idea about them should please respond.thank you
Hi omobolade, didnt you do 521 in school? *winks*
Chevron's skills tests are always different with regards to discipline. the earth scientist test today was different from the petroleum engineering test. the former had MCQ whereas the other did not. One common answer though is that calculators were allowed. Time duration was also different. If you are in Nigeria, transport fare will be refunded ad Chevron pays one of the highest t-fares :)
Hope that helps.
Cheers
please house anyone with materials for Process/Chemical, help a brother!
It will be good if the Petroleum Engineers and Earth Scientists based in UK that took part in the skills test to inform us of how they changed their venue from NG to UK.
All my efforts to reach the contact provided in the invitation is currently void.
I think they were just doing "eye service" when they included foreign based candidates in the first place. I don't think they are really ready to cater to anyone outside naija. Why else would they request for you to do it in Lagos when they know you took the aptitude test abroad. They may have responded to the pet guys due to a higher number of participants. Maybe its just you and a handful taking it in the UK. It really shouldn't be hard for them to have it scheduled at their office in london for you but such is the incompetence you have to deal with.
for change of venue, do a mail to Bibiana XXXXXXX, and copy KIMBXXX guy (D guy who sent you the invitation), let them know u are currently in the UK and will like to be scheduled there.
If you can also get a ot of your pals or those who you know are writing to also send them mails, it will swing the decision in your favour, and make it easier for CHV also.
Please those that had the Petroleum Engineering Test - is it similar to what we have in that IEC GMAT book, because the questions there are also theory questions. I am wondering if the Facilities Engineering Test will also be from the same book?
@ ALL, the test was "okay"
Earth Scientist had 3 hours to do their test, MCQ, a little of GeoPhysics, so much of MAP READING...a good understanding of 3rd year Map Reading will do you good, as reported by my friend who did the test for Earth Scientist.
Pet Engrs had
2 hours test
17 questions, section one had 10 to answer any 8, and section two had 7 questions to answer any 4.
Calculators were allowed
formula sheets were provided...but hmmm, that formula sheet is something else oh! confusing to say the least...but nevertheless helpful at some critical points.
Questions covered Petroleum Engineering, CHem ENgrg, Mech ENgrg, and EEE.
Reservoir Engrg, Well test, inclined planes, flow rates to fill a depth in a tank (mass balance things), decline curve, drilling (pressures), formation volume factors, solution gas, material balance, formation pressures and pressure gradients, force exerted in a tank by a column of fluid, API and specific gravities, weight in air and apparent weight in water (bouyancy things), resistors in series and parallel (power) etc.
Lots of conversions from one set of units to another...most answers were required in field units, Acres, bbls, lbs, Deg Rankine etc...please for those writing Facilities, know your Volume, Area, Length and Mass conversions wella.
best of all, do ur part...and Pray that God direct your last minute preps, go ahead of you to make every crooked way straight and empower your hands to excel.
I want to use this medium to thank and appreciate the those who wished me good, prayed along with me, sent me PET books, sent in PMs and encouraged a brother along the way, I am very very grateful to you all for standing by a brother.
