please anyone who has written d chemical skills test should help. Thanks
Lol @ the "reasoning". I was invited for the Chevron Pet Engr & Facilities Engr skills test (though I couldnt make the former), and also got invited for the Mobil Skills Test. But I agree with most people, it seems like only a few of us were invited or are people lurking?![]()
please anyone who has written d chemical skills test should help. Thanks
Hello everybody, I just registered here so that I can say my bit.
I'm thankful to God that I was also invited for the Exxon Mobil's skill test. My undergrad was in Elect./Elect so what I have may only help people from that discipline.
Fellow Engineers, we should stop asking for the test questions and do some studying. That's the way forward. If you schooled in Nigeria like me, and you want to be honest you'll know that our level of engineering education here is generally below the standards that Mobil wants.
I want to share an e-book titled "Handbook of Electrical Engineering: For Practitioners in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry" which you can use to revise or study before the skills test. I searched online for it, and the link is below.
I personally don't know if I will have enough time to study the book before Saturday cos of my current job. But if you have time, don't be lazy! Study!! And stop asking for sample questions.

"Handbook of Electrical Engineering: For Practitioners in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry"
God help us all
Overview of the book:
The book includes summaries of the necessary theories behind the design of systems together with practical guidance on selecting most types of electrical equipment and systems that are normally encountered with offshore production platforms, drilling rigs, onshore gas plants, pipelines, liquefied natural gas plants, pipeline pumping stations, refineries and chemical plants.
@ all...there are some information from previous exxonmobil's skill test. check the link http://www..com/144389/mobil-engineering-questions
How come come nobody is talking about the experienced hire positions advertised namely reservoir viz 5 -10 years, subsurface engr, project engr, construction engr and safety and environmental engrs. Are they also partaking in the skills test? What's next for folks in this category?
Reallistically, if you have cognate experience in the categories mentioned above, you probably won't be taking any test at all. As far as i am aware, most of the experienced candidates that took the test either have 1-3yrs or have experience in "other" industries. I think if you are a Reservoir Engineer with at least 5years experience with an operator, it is an insult for any company to ask you to write an aptitude test.
Most of the experienced "oil" guys who wrote the test are either MWD, Mud guys, cementing guys etc with service companies
Hi all. After 2 days surfing the net I've still found it difficult coming up with an effective strategy for the skills test. Guess I av to rely on sound residual knowledge and pray all goes well. So far all i have been able to gather is that the questions r objs which last abt 1hr. will we be allowed to use calculators? whats the likely time lapse btw the test and interviews?
Secondly, is it possible interviews r conducted the same day?
Any civil engr who has taken this test shd kindly help!!!, I NEED DIRECTION.
Goodnight
While i am not a civil engr, i would assume your focus should be on mechanics, strength of materials as it applies to the oil industry. Sub structure tensile stress and strain calcs should be at your fingertips. Success in the skills test will strongly depend on how "sound" your undergrad was. You should be able to deduce calculations without thinking too much. The use of calculators is irrelevant. You are no longer in the aptitude stage and a calculator will not give any advantage. If the problems require calculators, they'll let you use them. Considering the number of candidates, i doubt the interview will be the same day. (Don't quote me on that oo)
@Axel can you please send the ebook to me please......i av not been able to download the book as it seems the site is i unavailable at the moment.. thank you plenty [email protected]
@Axel, same here too!
I've also been unable to download, please send it to [email protected].
Thanks
