Description
Dynamic leader needed! One of Nigeria: country-region’s leading utility companies is in need of a Security Manager (SM). The SM is the executive responsible for the organization’s entire security posture, both physical and digital. For tactical reasons, technology is being infused into today’s physical security tools, which are increasingly database-driven and network-delivered, so this individual will need to possess a solid understanding of Information Technology and Information Security. On a more personal level, the company is looking for someone with superior organization, communication, problem-solving, analytical and leadership skills.

The SM will be responsible for the overall direction of all security functions associated with Information Technology applications, communications (both voice and data), and computing services within the enterprise.

The SM must be able to able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.

The SM must be aware of the implications of existing or newly implemented legislated requirements that impact security for the enterprise. Additionally, he or she will serve as one of the liaisons with local law enforcement to assist investigations of accidents, thefts, and property loss.

The SM has the responsibility for global and enterprise-wide information security; he/she is also responsible for the physical security, protection services and privacy of the corporation and its employees.

The SM will need to oversee and coordinate security efforts across the enterprise. This means working with human resources, facilities management, fraud/loss prevention, and other groups in order to manage the development and implementation of global security policy standards, guidelines, and procedures ensuring ongoing security maintenance. He or she must be able to identify and define loss prevention policies as well as to oversee the investigation of security breaches and assist with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary. Additionally, the SM must be a top professional in risk management assessments (to be able to prioritize external and internal threats).

Now because at a strategic level, CEOs and corporate boards desire an enterprise-wide view of operational risk, the SM will report directly to senior functional executives (CEO, COO, CFO, Chief of Administration Officer, Head of Legal Counsel, etc). The high profile nature of the role demands an excellent business presence, combined with creative problem solving and the confidence to interact with the very top levels of executive management and Government.

Upon assuming the position at company headquarters in Port Harcourt, the SM will be expected to select and propose for hire the services of experienced Security officers (one for each of our client company’s sites), manage their training and prepare coordinating work schedules of all security personnel, security and risk plans for each site and headquarters in order to ensure a secure environment at all times.

To be successful in the SM role, a candidate will most likely have spent over 10 years in the security industry, thus gaining significant security experience and a detailed understanding of contemporary threats. Strong preference will be given to candidates with prior military experience, especially those who have seen active duty. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working in or similar environments. Successful candidates will also possess a comprehensive working knowledge of risk assessment and management, program and project management, business continuity planning and auditing, as well as contract and vendor negotiation. If you feel that you are the intelligent, articulate and persuasive leader that this company seeks – an individual who can serve as an effective member of the senior management team – then please apply!

In addition to providing us your resume, please provide two client based experiences as examples of your strong pedigree for delivering on complex projects and dealing with major incidents. Additionally, candidates will be expected to present during the interviews their strategic plan for provision of 24/7 effective protection of the company’s property across Nigeria and the personnel at our various sites.
