An Lagos based local chapter of an international organization spanning 15 countries is currently seeking an experienced and competent Director of Finance and Administration, able to oversee the development and implementation of effective financial management, accounting and administrative policies, processes and systems for the Organization.The position reports directly to the Country Director and is ideal for an experienced senior Manager with solid experience who is ready to move up a notch and join a dynamic, high growth and mission driven organization.

Objectives:
Create effective policies, processes and systems for financial management, accounting and administration of the Organization and Programmes in the following areas:


  • Management Accounting and Reporting
  • Financial and Strategic Planning
  • Budget development and analysis
  • Cash Management
  • Monitoring regulatory environment and Donor requirements and produce Statutory and Donor Financial Statements
  • Developing Staff Capacities
  • General Administration of the Organization
  • Supervision of Support Staff.
  • Facilities Management.
  • Human Resources Management

Qualification:


  • Degree or HND in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Business Administration, Public Administration or any related field;
  • A recognized Professional Accounting Qualification.
  • 5 years cognizant experience in accounting and administration at operational level including Book-keeping, account preparation
  • Additional 5 years cognizant experience in Financial and administrative Management of an organization and or large Projects or Programmes
  • HRM, Facilities Management and supervision of Office Support Staff.

Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Vision & Leadership
  • Advise the Country Director and other key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters at select board of directors and other meetings including those with the International Head Office if need be
  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization
  • Help ensure that the organization is adhering to the strategic plan in collaboration with other Directors and Department Heads
  • Financial Planning
  • Effectively communicate with the board and Country Director and Headquarters as required
  • Present critical financial matters to the board and Country Director and Headquarters as required
  • Advise and guide Programme and Resource Development departments on Programme and donor financial matters
  • Maintain strong relationships with all Stakeholders and communicate with them continuously and keep the Country Director informed of all critical issues

  • Establish and monitor finance staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities;
  • Set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.


Duties:

  • Lead day to day financial and administrative operations
  • Collaborate with the Country Director, Programme Director and Department Heads
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll
  • Relationship Management with Banks, Suppliers, Auditors and Funders as required
  • Audit preparation
  • Overseeing the preparation of Financial Reports and Final Accounts
  • Overseeing collection of Basic Accounting Records
  • Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards and procedures
  • Provide analytical support to the organization’s internal management team including development of internal management reporting capabilities.
  • Improve administrative and operational accounting services such as treasury management, payment processing, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing
