70% unemployment is an alarming statistic for a country like Nigeria. This means 7 out of 10 of our young people are unemployed and have no means of income or livelihood regardless of the years they have spent gaining educational qualifications and the financial investments that the parents/guardians have made.
This painful scenario remains the reason why we have such high crime in the country, citizen unrest, unending brain drain, extremely low GDP and negative global perception of Nigeria as a country as a result of youth involvements in advance fee fraud.
While governments can do a lot more to reduce the state of unemployment in the country, private sector remains the most important ingredient for job creation in any capitalist society of which Nigeria is one.
Project New Nation is very concerned about Nigeria’s high unemployment hence we have designed ‘Operation Job Creation” as theme with many sub programs all orchestrated to reduce unemployment and put more Nigerian youth to work.
