JOB TITLE: MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
SALARY: 3M-4M NAIRA Per Annum
REPORTING LINES: REPORTS TO: COUNTRY PROGRAMME MANAGER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contribute immensely towards media and communication as part of advocacy development in all programmes
• Agrees on media and communication as part of advocacy issues and together with the relevant programme staff, identifies advocacy and communication issues related to work in Nigeria.
• Support Programme Officers in building Networks to carry out advocacy on livelihoods, Market Access and Right to be heard issues in Nigeria
• Design and produce training and educational materials on media and communication for marketing the programme
• Develops work plans and regular reports to the Country Programme Manager
• Support programme partners in media and communications related capacity building and ensuring that this is integrated within programmes
• Supports in identifying potential new strategic partners for in Nigeria and develop strategies for working with them
• Have responsibility for the monitoring and supervision of media and communication in line as part of advocacy related partner activities and plans in Nigeria by ensuring that these are in line with strategy in Nigeria
• Document and publish learning Bulletin in West Africa and other relevant publications
• Maintain contact with key civil servants, ministries and parliamentarians (Trade, Land, Education, etc) for information and to feed these into national advocacy work
• Develop and sustain relationship with the media and the civil society groups in Nigeria to feed into advocacy work
• Ensuring adequate media coverage for all programme activities, functions and press releases
• Liaise with active allies to identify and help them use rare opportunities to drive corporate advocacy issues in Nigeria

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE
• A minimum of Masters degree in Social Science, Communication Studies, Development Studies or any related field
• Demonstrable skills in effective media relations, experience in talking directly to media organisations and a high level of writing skills
• Demonstrable skills in direct and indirect lobbying/advocacy work (minimum 3 years), experience of campaigning in this field highly desirable
• Demonstrable broad grasp and understanding of policy issues and policy environment in Nigeria regarding livelihoods (Market Access, Trade and Right To Be Heard)
• A demonstrable understanding of NGO policy/advocacy work in the context of development
• Experience in capacity building and/or training skills highly advantageous
• Demonstrable and proven strong conceptual, research and analytical and writing skills
• Demonstrable ability to work independently, think innovatively and strategically as well as within a team
• High level interpersonal and diplomatic skills along awareness of political sensitivities in different settings of Nigeria
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Demonstrable understanding and experience of gender and diversity issues and commitment to addressing inequalities in all the key areas of responsibility

JOB TITLE: CAMPAIGNS MANAGER
SALARY: 23,000 – 29,000 POUNDS per annum
REPORTING LINES: REPORTS TO: COUNTRY DIRECTOR,NIGERIA

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• With the Campaigns Team and with partners, develop and prioritise key objectives for campaigns work, within the National Change Strategy, taking into account the strengths, gaps and interests of partners; and in focus, expertise and policy positions , at both country and international level.
• Working with partners, allies and colleagues, develop well-focused campaign and media strategies to achieve these objectives, to be rooted in long-term partnerships with Nigerian civil society organisations
• Develop, implement, monitor and report on work plans based on these strategies, including through financial updates and regular reports to the Country Director
• Line-manage the Campaigns Team in order to deliver the above
• Maintain on-going knowledge, understanding and analysis of relevant government and donor policy and practice and civil society campaign initiatives in Nigeria, in order to inform and partner advocacy work
• Manage relationships and represent and its partners with lobby targets, including government ministries, parliamentarians, donors, and international institutions; maintain regular contact to ensure ongoing access to relevant information
• Maintain regular communication with local and international civil society allies to share information and collaborate over identifying opportunities, developing strategies and implementing campaigns
• Work closely with International colleagues inside and outside Nigeria, particularly at national and regional, and level, to ensure coherence between policy lines and other advocacy work at national, regional and international levels, and to ensure that global campaigns are informed by Nigeria’s experience
• Work with the Country Director to develop and maintain relationships with potential donors to the National Change Strategy, including developing and writing fundraising proposals
