Job Description:
Coordinate company’s financial planning, debt financing, and budget management functions while
overseeing the accounting, monitoring and implementation of internal financial controls. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles and best practices.
A. Finance Administration and Accounting:
• Finalization of accounts by the 7th of each month and within 60 days of the year end for annual external audit. Monitor macro trends in contract and supplier base and implement plans to react.
• Review of general ledger, intercompany reconciliations and internal audit to be completed on a monthly basis.
• Surprise physical verifications of stock, reconciliation with ERP stock levels on a monthly basis.
• Ensuring that bank reconciliation is performed on a daily basis to check that the interest and bank charger are accurate while at the same time managing the cash-flow of the company.
• Analyse business performance and results regularly for feedback to the management.
• Ensuring that revenues are allocated correctly, taking corrective measures where inconsistencies arise.
• Monitor and track debtors to ensure that they are consistent with contract conditions and collections are consistent within set company time frames.
• In conjunction with the IT administrator coordinate and implement improvements in the Navision ERP
package and other upgrades providing necessary training to the direct reports.
B. Budgeting/Forecasting and Reporting
• Prepare annual budgets, both operating and capital expenditure budgets providing direction and guidance to all managers with regard to preparation of budgets.
• Ensuring accurate reporting of monthly financial results in accordance with company deadlines and ensuring that all variations to budget and forecasts are satisfactorily explained in management reports,
including any future/potential exposure to the organization.
• Ensure that business cash-flow adequately supports company work activities and produces optimal results.
• Ensure approved capital budgets are adhered to at all times.
• On monthly basis track and review expenditure against set budgets providing the management with a
“Budget Inconsistency Report”.
• On monthly basis ensure that all hire-purchase and lease activities are accounted for and reported to the management.
c. Asset Management
• Ensure all company assets are monitored and accurately accounted for.
• Ensure company motor vehicles and property is efficiently managed.
• Ensure that fixed assets register is managed and maintained
• On a monthly basis ensure that the general ledger is reconciled with the asset register.
D. Regulation and Statutory Compliance
• On an annual basis reconcile Gross wages, payroll tax, group tax, superannuation and worker’s
compensation for review and approval by the GFC/CFO before forwarding to the regulatory body.
• Ensure that monthly payroll tax, PAYE and group tax is completed by the accounts department.
• Collect and collate all necessary documentations in readiness and preparation of the company tax returns.
• Ensure that the company is compliant with all statutory and regulatory bodies set by the government
agencies (Tax, VAT, Environmental, Standard Organization of Nigeria)
• Professionally Liaise with suppliers, bankers, auditors, Lawyers, PR firms etc.

Key Skills:
Education:
a. An Accounting graduate from a reputed institute is a must.
b. Professional qualification in Charter Accountancy is a must.
c. Computer literacy and the ability to understand and use the full fleet of MS Office products (Word, Power Point, Excel etc.) is a must.
Experience:
a. 12-20 years of experience in the accounts and finance function.
b. A deep understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
c. Working Knowledge of financial accounting, compliance reporting, and cost control measures as well as system development and improvement.
d. Experienced in Budget Preparation with working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and
forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
e. Experience in working with accounting packages such as Navision is desirable.
