Corruption as it is known manifest itself in multifaceted ways and not necessarily in fraud meant to enrich one or upturning of protocols to gain advantage or even embezzling of entrusted public fund. One way that corruption manifested itself and take direct swipe at competent hands is d distribution of opportunities for youths who possesses requisite skills. Today in Naija for u to land a good paying job both in public and private lives u have to be put there by someone whether u merit it or not and weda u have integrity or not, most times pple who hav interest plant certain person in places to do dirty works for dem and extend dia culture of corruption and stealing and compromise. Dis is the area where the anger of nigerian youths is. Most times jobless youths are invited from all accross the federation and allowed to endure hardship and sometimes even do an interview and then dia names are replaced without reason. D youths are watching with patience, they are not stupid though.
ICPC,EFCC,INEC and every other organisation that provide public service most employ only people of integrity and merit selected through a fair process. Recruitment in naija today is a racket controlled by a cabal,Customs,CBN,The Police,Banks,Telecoms,Immigration,NNPC etc. Of particular interest is the ongoing ICPC recruitment that has been pending since december 2010,it is of interest bcos it started well wt the centre in abuja and with every person from accross the country coming to abuja. Now the process is enmeshed in corruption and self-interest.D credible hands that are suppose to help institutionalise integrity and probity in the organisation and the country at large are about to be replaced by the self-serving board member. Is ICPC not suppose to be different? Are they not suppose to be the vanguard of change? Can they atleast be fair in this recruitment and be true to the future fight against corruption?
