Canadian International Development Agency: Job Opportunity

Written by on December 15th, 2011 The Agency responsible for Canada Development envelope wishes to recruit a full time Senior Consultant to support the monitoring of CIDA’s cooperation programme with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The Senior Consultant is expected to assist CIDA in fulfilling its obligations as one of the main developmental agencies directly involved in the strengthening of ECOWAS’ capacity building needs, particularly in the field of Agriculture and Rural Development

The Adviser will:

  • Provide advice and recommendations to Canadian Cooperation Assistance in the planning of a new support initiative for the ECOWAS Capacity Building Programme
  • Provide relevant advice and recommendations on the drafting of key documents of the Pool Fund for Capacity Building
  • Support and advise Canada’s Development Agency in performing its role as the leader of Partners of the “Pool Fund for Capacity Building”
  • Support Canada Development Agency in its general relations with ECOWAS

Required Qualifications

  • University Degree (MA + 10 years experience) from a recognized university in a relevant field; (Social Sciences, Administration)
  • Knowledge of the mechanisms and operations of regional organizations in West Africa
  • Experience and knowledge related to institutional strengthening
  • Experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects/programmes
  • Very good analytical skills
  • Significant experience in report writing
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)
  • Very good knowledge of current IT tools (Word, Excel)
