Chief Operations Officer

The COO supports the work of the company's chief executive officer focusing on the establishment and optimization of day-to-day operations in the company. Supervises all internal department heads responsible for delivering services and report to the CEO.

These shall include:

• Technical
• Sales
• Marketing
• Customer Service/Account Management

Responsibilities of the COO:

1. Advise the management team on key planning issues and make recommendations on important business decisions.

2. Strategic planning and resource allocation

3. Establish operational processes/ process improvement

4. Manage IIP strategy implementation, in particular regarding budgets and timelines

5. Ensure quality control of all company output as pertains to customer acquisition and delivery of services

6. Ensure all department heads are fully informed of operational objectives

7. Set operational and / or performance goals for each department which are aggressive, achievable and tied to long-term goals

8. Establish and monitor and report on organizational performance reporting systems

9. Monitor department performance against performance goals to ensure that progress is being made

10. Conduct regular meetings with department heads to ensure that priorities are clear and coordination is good.

11. Ensure activities comply with organizational requirements for quality management, legal and or contractual stipulations or obligations, and general duty of care.

12. Facilitate resolution of issues between departments.

13. Take charge in high-priority crises (especially critical or accounts that are behind schedule).

14. Raise local funds (depending on business forecast equity to debt ratio)

15. Build local fund raising and sales infrastructures within local offices

16. Generate sufficient local revenue to cover local costs (percentage of cost reduction and revenue growth to be stipulated)

17. Increase fee-for-service contracts (percentage of increase in line with the business plan needs to be stated)
18. Identify geographic growth opportunities and priorities (new accounts)

19. Communicate the brand message internally and externally

20. Instill a knowledge transfer scheme, human capital development and “coaching” culture within the company

Qualifications
• Minimum of a University degree, ideally with an MBA
• Strong operational experience: ideally has worked in a senior management role for 10+ years in a socially responsible (size of organization needs to be stated) organization with progressive experience leading to at least three (10) years experience in operational/administrative management
• Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal
• Skills should include organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning; demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems to manage both operational and programmatic work that involve high levels of collaboration
• Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment
• Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
