A leading Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) requires the services of a Database Administrator for full employment.Typical responsibilities include:• Provide database administration support for all databases to guarantee high availability of the databases.• Perform database installation, creation, upgrades and decommissions to support development and project work.• Carry out database backup and recovery to ensure protection for all disaster recovery scenarios and prevent outages.• Ensuring correct database change control and deployments to promote stable and consistent database environments.• Ensure that database security applies is in line with company policy and data protection laws to provide protection for client’s data. This will involve the use of encryption technologies.• Database maintenance to guarantee the continued availability of the databases and to maximise performance.• Carry out database performance, investigation, diagnosis, resolution and provide recommendations to assist with application development and evolution. This includes locking and block issues that arise from high transactional and high concurrency environments.• 24/7 on-call duties may be required as many of the databases run continuously.• Problem solving and resolution of requests via the request system, this may involve liaising with colleagues in different countries and time zones.• Produce stored procedures and any other database code required by a development project.• Produce documentation relating to database procedures, code or practices as and when required.Skills / Knowledge / Experience• Proven working experience of supporting Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008 as a DBA in both Development and Production database environments.• A good working understanding of the Windows operating systems.• Proven education background or relevant industry experience and certification.• Proven working experience of performance tuning and investigation.• Good knowledge of locking issues, isolation levels and execution plans.• Proven working experience of database backup and recovery.• Ability to develop stored procedures and write efficient T-SQL.• Excellent problem analysis/resolution skills are essential.• Experience of replication, mirroring, and clusters is desirable.• Experience in Dell Power Edge servers administration• Basic understanding of Crystal report writing tool and Microsoft accessPersonal Characteristics/Skills desired1.
