Wireless Protocol Software Developer at Research In Motion (RIM/BlackBerry)

POSITION SUMMARY

The successful candidate will work with a dynamic group of experienced software designers in the Radio Applications team for CDMA and Worldphone devices. The team develops embedded software for wireless radio access protocols and data services and applications, allowing the BlackBerry to remain "always on" in any mobile network. The development cycle includes requirements, feasibility studies, design and development, integration, designer verification, test and deployment support. Expertise and knowledge of integration with hardware as well as debugging and supporting verification is a definite asset. The candidate will have the chance to work on a host of different wireless protocols (CDMA (1x, EVDO), GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA and WLAN).

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with analyzing mobile device and network side field logs using log capture and post processing tools
• Strong knowledge of real time OS and Algorithm
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Independent work ethic to bring tasks to completion

ADDITIONAL ASSETS
• Experience working on mobile phone development
• Hands on experience with network simulation tools and equipment e.g. Anite, Rhodes + Schwartz, Racal, Agilent, Spirent
• JAVA knowledge would be valuable
