Position: Accounts Officer

Role purpose: The BDO’s primary responsibility is finance production.

The BDO is also responsible for outreach and marketing to attract qualified clients. Responsible for follow through of each client needs assessment, matching clients to appropriate resources, preparing files for transfer and serving as an advocate for minority business owners. Network with financial and business professionals and make presentations to business groups. Refer clients to appropriate internal and external business resources. Other duties may be assigned.
Key Work and Tasks

• Maximize fee income

• Respond to customer requests in a timely, professional manner within 24 hours

• Respond to referrals (internal and external) in a timely, professional manner

• Evaluate the creditworthiness of current and prospective customers

• Manage the approval process to insure timely response

• Understand, adopt, and adhere to the Merit Policies

• Promote other Merit services and products

• Promote a positive attitude and team approach to customer relationships

• Promote Merit to the Business Community and enhance its reputation

• Continue to expand your professional development

• Participate in activities that promote the Merit activities

• Participate in special projects designated by your immediate supervisor and executive management
• Identify new and potential customers and follows-up qualified leads from other sources to build relationships in order to increase revenue.
• Visit customers and makes them aware of the Company's full portfolio of products, services and network capabilities.
• Use consultative interviewing to research customer's critical business processes, plans and strategies, and identify needs and competitor environment.
• Develop/implement account plans and sales strategy to enable sales success.
• In conjunction with appropriate organizational resources, develop solutions to customer needs based on the Company's strengths in products, services, and network
• Manage overall business relationship with existing/prospective customers so that the opportunity to do business is a natural and logical result.
• Develop and deliver bid/proposal and manage closure of the sale.
• Maintain periodic contact with existing customers - use knowledge of customers' businesses to build on-going relationships and develop needs for additional solutions provided by Company.
• Provide information on competitors' activities and market conditions to marketing to support competitor analysis and strategy development
• Maintains current knowledge of Company products and services as well as telecoms industry trends.
• Prepare reports on sales activity, achievements and forecasts

Person Specification:

• In depth technical knowledge of telecoms product/services including internet, mobile and networking
• Able to build long term relationships with internal/external customers.
• Strong consultative sales skills
• Proven track record as a high achiever.
• Able to work under pressure and to overcome resistance to achieve results.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
