    CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER IN A TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY

    Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Role

    Our Client is a provider of reliable Telepresence/Video conferencing, Voice over IP (VoIP)/IP telephony and Unified Communications solutions through Value added-Sales, deployment and support of reputable world-class brands of telecommunication equipment

    The Role
    You will be the key Technology resource person in the organization and must make decisions about which
    technologies are most likely to generate the highest rate of return. You are to think about technology as
    a moneymaking asset, not as a field of exploration for its own sake
    You will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and lead a Client Relations- Technical team
    of 6 members

    Your responsibilities as the CTO will include but is not limited to:

    (i) Monitor processes and procedures to ensure conformance to best practices and to identify opportunities for improvements

    (ii) Developing a long-term Technology/Product development blue print for the organization in the
    area of Telepresence, VoIP and Unified Communications

    (iii) Supervising the activities of the Client Relation-Technical team in fulfilling Customers mandates
    via collaborative efforts with the Head, Client Relations-Technical

    (iv) Actively engage in the securing of key Enterprise Clients and Projects for the Company that will
    help to improve the company’s profitability

    (v) Constantly recommending to the CEO and Executive Management at-large new Technologies
    and processes that will help improve organizational effectiveness and employee productivity
    in a cost-effective manner

    (vi) Ensure that adequate knowledge of competitor’s activities and competitive environment is maintained and provided to the board and CEO whenever required.

    (vii) Assist in technology evaluation and equipment forecast and ensure adequate tools and resources are available for Solution Deployments

    Role Requirements

    Reporting to: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

    Job Conditions: Competitive with Industry working conditions. Must possess a valid Driver's license and additional work time is usually required on a need basis.

    Skills

    In order to function effectively as the CTO, you must possess the following skills and competencies:
    - Strong IT & Networking skills
    - Strong Analytical and research Skills
    - Excellent writing and verbal Communication Skills
    - Excellent Interpersonal Skills
    - Good Negotiation skills
    - Team building & Project Management skills
    - Supervision / leadership skills
    - Ability to meet tight deadlines and work long unusual hours
    - Customer Relationship management (CRM) skills
    - Excellent Time management and organizational skills
    - Knowledge of the SAP CRM/BI modules would be a plus


    Educational Background
    You will have a Bachelors in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and a Masters Degree preferably in Telecommunications

    Experience
    At least six years working experience, four years of which must be in the Telecoms Industry especially in VPN/VoIP/UC, microwave radio /fibre optic networking and datacom engineering
    At least 3 years managerial experience with a Telecommunications Solutions/Service Provider will be desirable
