Job Title: ASP/ASP.NET Developer

SUMMARY
This position is required in the Web Design/Development team of the Information Systems Unit. The occupier will be responsible for developing and maintaining web applications on the Windows platform (ASP, ASP.NET, MS Access, SQL Server, T-SQL, IIS) for Cross River State Government (CRSG).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Takes responsibility for the full lifecycle design and development of websites using the Windows platform technologies listed above.

• Develops and coordinates the execution of test plans for websites developed using the Windows suite of technologies.

• Provides high quality technical documentation to back up software development projects.

• Liaises with other units within the ICTD Department to ensure that web applications are deployed and maintained professionally and in a non-disruptive manner.

• Interfaces with Cross River State Government MDAs for the purpose of delivering high quality web applications to satisfy the requirements of MDAs.

• Provides documentation on a regular basis (to be agreed) to show detailed website statistics for each managed website.

• Ensures that websites are free of errors and bugs.

• Takes responsibility for the optimal functioning of Internet Information Server (IIS) and other related software and services for the running of websites.

• Resolves issues affecting websites in a timely and professional manner.

• Takes full responsibility for delivery of new functionality on websites as required by client MDAs.

• Works closely with the team’s Graphics Designer to achieve professional, visually appealing Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) for websites.

• Contributes actively to technical discussions aimed at enabling greater efficiency and overall output from the Information Systems Unit.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
The holder of this position should ideally have a science related degree with a strong mathematical bias. A minimum of 3 years experience working within a Windows development team is essential.

Experience of working with large, high traffic websites would be a distinct advantage. This position will suit a Windows developer with solid knowledge of ASP, ASP.NET, IIS7, T-SQL, SQL Server, MS Access, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS. Experience of working to W3C standards with HTML and CSS is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent spoken and written communication skills are essential for this position.
