Challenges of the Nigerian Police Force
Of all the national institutions in Nigerian none has been severely bashed and scolded by the public as the Nigerian police force by both the educated and illiterate, the young and old tend to castigate the police accusing them of corruption, inefficiency and brutality. Traditionally and constitutionally, the duty of preventing lives and property, maintaining peace and order, preventing and detection of crimes falls on ,the Nigerian police, but unfortunately, the problems confronting the Nigerian police worsened the duties they were initially called to perform to which the Nigerian society now regards them as enemies than friends
However, towards the negative public attitudes towards the police, a critical mind could still see police corruption, inefficiency and other problems as evidence of profound fundamental aliment ravaging the entire Nigerian society and not the police alone since the one police efficiency is depended on the magnitude of resources committed to its maintenance by the political leaders in which any nation which falls to make adequate provision for its police does so at its own peril and not until the force is well funded by the government, it will continue to be a mess with corruption and inefficiency...Read on at http://www.infodailies.com/community...ce-in-nigeria/
