How do i become grounded in the field?

Hi guys. I'm a big fan of the current trend of information technology in the country and i so desire to be among the pioneer of this glorious trend. However i'm a complet ignoramous when it comes to computer.

I wish to fare/specialise in programmin and networking concisely. So i'd appreciat any advise as to where to start from; what school to look into, affordability and quality of the school, duration, and so on.

In one word, i want to know how i can becom grounded in the field of Info Tech within the shortest possible time and in the most affordable way... I no get pepe like dat ooo!!!
