MODULE V
Hazardous area classification (HAC)
The participants would know the importance of Hazardous Area Classification Drawings in electrical design works. Participants will be able to read and Understand HAC drawings as regards designs. They would be able to analyze Electrical equipment based on the classification of a particular area.
-Understanding the actual meaning of HAC.
-Knowing the importance of HAC
-Knowing the parameters needed for making a good HAC -Appreciate and understand the various standards used for HAC -Appreciate and understand the HAC classification as regards choosing equipment for particular volatile areas -Check through various examples

MODULE VI
PLC
The participants would know the importance of PLC in electrical design works for oil & gas sector. Participants will be able to read and understand PLC logics as regards designs for control panels and other related automated cubicles. They would be able to understand and analyze PLCs.
They would be
able to help out in the programming of PLCs and know whatever information required by the manufacturers -Understanding the actual meaning of PLC.
-Understand various programming languages of the PLC in line with IEC- 61131-3 -Knowing what input and output devices and other PLC/PAC Equipments -Knowing how the PLC communication concept, e.g. the Ethernet, master slave networks, RTU/DCS/HMI interfaces, Drivers, etc.
-Understanding Human-machine interface functions -Ability to write PLC Programmes most especially Ladder instructions -Case studies- Siemens and Alan Bradley PLCs Instrument lists(IL) ?

- To understand the use of location plans or layouts in instrumentation
- To understand and read location plans for detection of equipments on Plans
- To effectively read and recognize the structural and electrical Considerations as regards location of instrumentation equipments.
- To understand how to lay the cable trays on locations
- To understand location of panels on locations
- Analysis of various location plans
Loop diagrams
- To understand the use of Loop Diagrams in instrumentation
- To generate loop Diagrams from the P&IDs -To effectively read and recognize the various valves, tubings and cablings Involved in the Loop Diagrams

MODULE VII
DCS initiatives
This initiative looks at distributed processor systems and their evolution from DCS to Smaller ?hybrid? systems, large Enterprise-wide systems, and so called open control Systems. We will compare DCS to traditional single-loop, central computer, PLC, PAC, PC, and SCADA architectures, along with fibre-optic, wireless, multiple fieldbuses, Safety systems and security issues.
