Despite attempts by the oppositions and detractors to rubbish Governor Ikedi Ohakim’ good intention to provide 10,000 jobs for the teeming unemployed graduates in the state, the exercise has turned out to be a reality. This followed a recent announcement by the chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Chief Robert Asuzu that all successful applicants in 10,000 job interview would begin to receive their appointment letters from today.
With this latest development, the opposition and the doubting Thomas have been proved wrong, thereby laying credence to the fact that Governor Ohakim is a man of his words and one keeps to his promises.
According to Chief Asuzu, Governor Ohakim should be commended and held in high esteem for the display of this gesture, which he said was born out of the human kindness, targeted at reducing the suffering of many families in the state.
Chief Asuzu who disclosed these facts during a chat with statesman, said the interview of the candidates for the 10,000 jobs by the Civil Service Commission ended on October 12, 2010, while that of those who applied for teaching service is on-going.
Explaining the reason for the interviews after the exercise closed, he said it was done on compassionate grounds to give chance to those who missed theirs. Such magnanimity he said is in line with the new face agenda.
He said the commission interviewed 8,780 candidates, pointing out that the 10,000 jobs being in reality goes to confirm that governor Ohakim will in the same spirit complete and deliver all capital projects, he has embarked upon.
Unfortunately he said those who were misled and deceived by unfounded and unsubstantiated rumours of enemies of the state that the 10,000 jobs was not going to be reality have lost out completely and are now biting their fingers in disbelief since such opportunity might not come so soon.
He called on Imo people to give full support to governor Ohakim to get re-elected in 2011 in order to continue his good work as well as complete such projects like Oguta Wonder Lake project, the Oak refinery in Egbema, Nworie River dredging, the on-going fly over, the Government house and the multi-purpose hall among others.
Furthermore as a visionary and a well-focused leader, he has a lot more goodies to offer the Imo people in terms of advancing the state economy to acceptable standards as well as opening the windows of investment opportunities to the outside world using his vast connection in business.
He maintained that governor Ohakim is a man to beat as he has always put his intellectual acumen to the best use in everything he dose in the state, which is why he has always excelled and made useful contribution to burning national issue.
Mr. Kelechi Oguh one of the candidates said the exercise was transparent and appealed to Imo people to flow along with the governor, give him all the necessary support and encouragement to light up his desire to do more for the state for the overall benefit of all.
Another candidate Miss Mordeline Ugwuazumba who spoke in the same vein simply added “The 10,000 like we have all seen is reality.
The only thing we owe the governor for this gesture is to continue to support and be loyal to him.”
Another debt we owe him is to ensure he returns as the state governor in 2011.
