JOB TITLE: MARKETING EXECUTIVE
(INITIALLY 6 MONTHS BUT WILL BE MADE PERMANENT ON PERFORMANCE OR COMMITMENT BASIS)

This post requires someone who is very flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic, a fast learner and
unflappable. They should be able to build relationships, and to work individually as well as part of
a team. The job holder must be able to work efficiently and cost effectively on a number of timesensitive
projects at any one time. They must be proactive and keen to use their initiative, being
highly creative in their approach to establish these new products.
Practical
This post requires a dynamic marketer (follow-up proposals and brochure) with experience of
working in a marketing environment. Previous marketing skill would be advantageous.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Good A Level standard,
Preferred degree level education
GCSE Maths and English essential
Experience: At least 1-year experience in a similar environment
Knowledge of all Direct Marketing techniques that are relevant to a business-to-business
environment.
Familiarity with ICTek products would be beneficial
Skills: MS Office Word for Windows and Excel essential
Excellent level of spoken and written English required for sales activity
Ability to control costs and work to agreed deadlines within a budget is vital
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to plan and prioritise activities and work with and in great detail
Ability to persuade, influence, negotiate and consult effectively at all levels
within and outside the company
Ability to work on many and varied tasks simultaneously
Ability to research markets, plan campaigns, and analyse results
Principal Accountabilities
1. Send out ICTek publications such as Training Brochure; Flyers and follow up to ensure full
coverage.
2. Grow relations with key contacts from main accounts and be a back up point of contact for
training, licensing agreements and account queries.
3. Put together a monthly report for sales team tracking usage, and potential upsell amongst
users. Develop corporate and training communication emails for top accounts.
4. Plan and fulfil regular trial and ‘usage’ communications to increase awareness and drive
traffic to each site, by both new trial lists and existing customers
5. Plan direct marketing campaigns to a wider audience, and compile marketing plans to
ensure the best possible use is made of all appropriate resources to achieve revenue
targets. Implement, update and maintain schedules on a daily basis.
6. Explore all approaches to e-marketing including search engine optimisation, google ads,
banner advertising and html/text emails. Use other internal sites such as key accounts site
accordingly.
7. Under supervision, allocate annual promotion budgets in the most effective way to
contribute to the profitable lead generation and sales of each site and the achievement of
overall divisional sales targets.
8. Exploit all possible opportunities to raise customer/market awareness via subscription and
book portfolios and conference/exhibition activity, liasing closely with Publishing and
Conference departments both external and internal to Group.
9. Organise profiling of additional market tiers as required using internal list researchers –
ensure optimal and timely use of information gathered to generate trialists and sales.
Conduct campaigns to any ‘’gaps’’ identified.
10. Conduct frequent competitor research to understand the marketing approaches for their
comparable sites. Give suggestions for updates/changes in content and functionality to the
editorial and e-production teams.
11. Monitor and track all responses to promotional campaigns, analysing and assessing use of
marketing mix to generate maximum response and revenue within agreed ROI limits.
Provide regular reports to the Commercial Director as agreed.
12. Ensure that all promotional material is produced to agreed best practice standards, is
thoroughly proofed before printing and meets agreed departmental guidelines. Incorporate
new creative approaches where possible
13. Keep central and divisional customer services, Commissioning teams, Sales Team,
subsidiary offices and all other colleagues advised of promotions before they are launched
(as appropriate) and on a regular basis. To keep everyone fully informed of sales and
marketing activity and keep sales support material up-to-date and distribute amongst the
team
14. To train, coach, motivate and develop sales and marketing assistant, to achieve the sales
target and to ensure that best practice is maintained at all times
