The institute of Operation Management, Nigeria is a Professional body, fully registered and incorporated in Nigeria. It is patterned like the Institute of Operations management of London United Kingdom.

In the whole of Africa, there are two of such reputable Institutes in the area of Operations Management; Namely: Institute of Operations Management of South Africa.
Nigeria being a developing economy striving to attain both technological heights and otherwise as already achieved by the developed economies need this noble profession in our fertile arable shore for the growth and development of our economy.

The Institute of Operations Management, provides operations personnel with the inbuilt intrinsic badge of professional credibility; it demonstrates to employers and employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders a complete excellence, continuous improvement and professionalism; it shows a desire to improve business performance and the sharing of advice and knowledge leading to an improved ability to deliver quality products and services at a low cost, at the right time and in the right quantity and quality.

The institute aims to add value to individuals and organizations by providing access to professional competent practitioners, consultants, and academic and thought leaders that promotes the theory of techniques for and best practice in operations management. This helps organizations to support and sustain continuous improvement through a body of knowledge that can be applied in practice to make a positive difference to real business situations.

A Nigerian, natural or citizen falling into any of the categories shall subject to the provision of the Byelaws and any other regulation of the institute be admitted membership of the institute.
(a) A graduate holding at least first degree in relevant discipline.
(b) A person(s) holding any professional certificate acceptable to the institute
(c) A body that registers as a corporate entity after satisfying the institute requirement as may be set from time to time.
