ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Birmingham City University : Nigeria
Foundation
We require one of the following:
- Advanced National Commercial Certificate (ANCC) (1995)/Advanced National Technical
- Certificate (ANTC) (1995) (comparable to VCE Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level/ BTEC National Certificate
- University Matriculation Examination (considered comparable to a standard between GCSE and GCE AS level – obtaining a score of 350 or over)
For Art & Design a good portfolio is also required.
For TEE Foundation courses one A level is required in Computing, Science, Technology, Engineering or Business.
Undergraduate
We require one of the following:
- West African Examination Council/ West African School Certificate/National
- Examinations Council WAEC in 5 subjects with grades 1-6, (comparable to GCSE (Grades A-C)
- +2 years ND (comparable to Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE)/BTEC National Diploma standard)
- International Baccalaureate minimum average score of 24. For Marketing, Marketing, Advertising and PR, Accountancy, Law and Media minimum average score of 26
- West African GCE A level (up to 1989) (comparable to the overall GCE Advanced)
- A levels – a minimum of two passes (equivalent to the required tariff points)
- National or Higher National Certificate or Diploma awarded by BTEC/Edexcel (comparable to BTEC/SQA Higher National Diploma (HND) standard/Foundation degree Standard)
- All Business School undergraduate courses need O level Maths Grade C or equivalent – not compulsory for Computing
Pre-masters
We require low credits in 3rd class degree plus 2 years’ work experience.
Postgraduate
We require the following:
Successful completion of a 4-year degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower overall (Comparable to British Bachelor (Ordinary) degree standard).
Exceptions
MBA
We require a minimum of two years’ satisfactory work experience and age on entry of 23 years.
Computing
Successful completion of a 4-year degree in the relevant subject area with minimum of Second Class Lower and a satisfactory academic reference.
MSc Pervasive Computing – requirements as above plus previous Java computer programming experience
Art & Design/Birmingham School of Acting/Birmingham Conservatoire
To meet above academic requirements pending portfolio/interview
Law, humanities, development and society
Undergraduate
- PCP RICS accredited (R.E., QSBS) requirements set by RICS must be 260 pts.
- International Baccalaureate = 29 pts and Maths GCSE grade C or above.
- Psychology – requires Maths GCSE grade C
- All courses requires satisfactory references
- LLB Accepts 24 pts in International Baccalaureate
Postgraduate
- LLM Corporate & Business Law requires a related degree (2.1) or non Law degree with Law modules and IELTS 7.0 overall (no less than 6.5 in any band)
- LLM International Human Rights IELTS 7.0 overall
- Graduate Diploma in Law requires IELTS 7.0 overall (no less than 6.5 in any band)
- Legal Practice Course – A qualifying Law Degree plus full enrolment with SRA. IELTS 7.0 overall (no less than 6.5 in any band)
- MA Criminology, MA Criminological Research, MA Criminal Justice Policy & Practice, requires a related social science discipline
- MA Housing requires a related discipline and satisfactory work related experience
- MSc Construction Project Management, MSc Property Development, requires a related discipline 2.1 degree (2.2 Degrees will be considered on an individual basis)
- MSc Construction, MSc Spatial Planning and MSc Real Estate Management require a 2.1 degree (2.2 Degrees will be considered on an individual basis)
- MA English Linguistics – requires IELTS 7.0 overall (no less than 6.5 in any band)
