GRAPHICS ARTIST/DESIGNER
Our client, a reputable Brands and Design company with focus on turning insight and innovation into memorable brands for its clients is looking to recruit a focused, energetic, results-driven, committed and experienced individual to fill the position of Graphics Artist/Designer. The successful candidate will work alongside the Chief Executive Officer in a tactically oriented function to meet the graphic design needs of the company and its clients.
JOB SUMMARY
· Conceptualize and implement design of solutions that meet marketing strategies from concept to completion.
· Work with various clients to interpret and translate their expressed needs and ideas into concepts, and develop and translate them into effective communication materials
· Plan, coordinate and organize projects and production processes to ensure completion in a timely and cost-effective manner; conceive, plan, produce, and create files or artwork
SCOPE OF JOB RESONSIBILITY
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
· Conceive ideas, concepts, and design campaigns; design, produce, work with others in the creation of multifaceted communication materials, and other mediums for a variety of instructional, promotional and development projects.
· Consult with client organizations to determine visual requirements that support organizational business goals.
· Lead creative aspects of projects by creating online visual designs, including typography, visual concepts, logos and icon designs.
· Work with project managers and team members to provide professional recommendations for concept, design, art direction, production, print buying, and monitor quality control.
· Produce visual solutions to the communication needs using a mix of creative skills and commercial awareness.
· Prepare new and unique illustrations, innovative layout prints and rough sketches of presentation and organization brochures and designs graphics for website in line with branding guidelines.
· Determine style, technique, and medium best suited to organisation promotion strategies.
· Define design criteria; develop concept and direction; propose, direct and create art and photography.
· Effectively communicate and coordinate with the information architect, writer and production artists to ensure that the visual design communicates the desired message
· Create and develop media using digital art and photographic techniques.
· Monitor and track production projects to ensure proper and timely completion; work with outside vendors to meet production deadlines.
· Maintain equipment and supply inventory; maintain accurate files and records.
· Contribute to the editorial development of projects.
· Meet clients or account managers to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job
· Interprete the client's business needs and develop a concept to suit their purpose
· Estimate the time required to complete the work and provide quotes for clients
· Develop design briefs by gathering information and data through research
· Innovatively redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time
· Present finalized ideas and concepts to clients or account managers
· Work with a wide range of media, including photography and computer-aided design (CAD)
· Proofread to produce accurate and high-quality work
· Contribute ideas and design artwork to the overall brief
· Demonstrate illustrative skills with rough sketches; Work on layouts and artworking pages ready for print
· Keep abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programs such as QuarkXPress, FreeHand, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3ds Max, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver and Flash
· Work as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, stylists, illustrators, other designers, account executives, web developers and business development officers.
· Design different types of layouts and illustrations, web design layout and typography according to brand guidelines.
· Create and modify fonts according to brand guidelines.
· Demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
· Work on multitasks at the same time using a wide range of media, including photography and computer aided design.
· Create professional designs and layouts for promotional materials including direct mailings, handouts, advertisements, posters, signs, logos, and other visual layouts.
· Assist in copywriting as necessary and perform typesetting for forms and publications.
· Coordinate production activities with printers, service agencies, advertisers, and vendors and review quality of final product before release.
· Keep abreast of current trends in same field by conducting necessary researches.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer of the Organization.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
· Very good knowledge and understanding of the components and new thinking in Graphics and Design Solutions.
· Good knowledge of current fashions in the visual arts, working knowledge of the latest computer packages and an understanding of material costs and time limits, all of which can impact on the design.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· First degree or its equivalent in any discipline (preferably in any of the humanities) required.
· Must be proficient in graphic related packages, such as CorelDraw, Adobe Photoshop/Illustration, PageMaker e.t.c. (Knowledge of Flash and other multimedia design packages is an added advantage)
· Knowledge of graphic animation, video editing, needs to know how to create media presentations using different software.
· Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in Creative Hotshop, Ad and Branding related companies.
