Union Bank recruits 500 fresh graduates

Union Bank Plc is putting smile on the face of 500 fresh graduates as it is taking them out of the labour market.

The board of the bank has approved the recruitment of 500 fresh graduates, the Principal Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Francis Barde, announced in a statement on Wednesday.

This, according to the statement, is to inject new blood and regenerate its workforce.

The graduates, the statement said, were recruited following their outstanding performance at the recruitment test conducted by an independent firm of recruitment experts and Interviews conducted by General Management staff of the Bank.

The recruits will undergo a four-week week intensive training at different locations spread across the country, Barde said. This is to prepare the new entrants for the challenges of banking and to integrate them into Union Bank’s culture of professionalism and best ethical practices,

The statement adds, "During the training and orientation, the new employees would also be groomed in Union Bank’s time tested tradition of excellent customer service which is a key aspect of the on-going enterprise transformation of the Bank, code named Project GEAR.

"The recruitment exercise is in furtherance of the Bank’s sustained strategy over the years to retain its leadership position in the banking industry and is a demonstration of the commitment of the Bank to mitigate employment challenges confronting the nation, thereby reducing social vices among the youths. This exercise is also independent of the recruitment of experience staff, which is conducted on a continuous basis to meet specific needs.

"The new recruits will join the existing 6750 staff thereby strengthening the workforce and consolidate the position of the Bank as one of the leading employers of labour in the nation’s financial services industry."

abt 1000 were2b recruited.y hv dy reduced it 2 500 after so many yrs of not recruiting freshers.dm try but no too try.ill appreciate more wn d rem. 500 r called.

Quite an interesting topic,but i would like to ask the person who said about a thousand were supposed to be recruited,is that a confirmed informatioin or the normal grapevine gist that comes with such recruitment exercises?
Any ways,i think kudos should be given to Union bank for even recruiting during this dark economic period,a lot of intsitutions are actually rightsizing(the new acronym for sack)but union is employing.I feel you all but i really think we should deeply examine issues before concluding,look at it this way,WHAT IF GOD DOESNT WANT YOU TO WORK THERE?HE COULD HAVE BETTER PLANS AHEAD FOR YOU U KNOW.
Anyway your miracle is around the corner peeps.For those of us that were lucky to be called,it is not as if we are the best,it is by hIs grace so lets give Him all the glory ok?
