SHOULD NYSC SCHEME BE SCRAPED OUT (REASONABLE OPINIONS PLS)

Good mornin my niaja ladys and gents.
Jos crises dats leads to the death of 3 or more corps members is something we all feel bad about.
Can this lead to a dead end for NYSC?
Try to keep in mind other very bad things of this scheme and the very best things of this scheme before u make an opinion.
Should NYSC be scraped out?
Should the period be reduce?
OR should it be left jst as it is for our younger ones to experience the other side of studies.
ur opinion is crucial and may lead to a revolution on NYSC.
Every one has his/her story to tell.

NYSC should be scrapped not just because of the jos tragic incident but for other important reasons.
1. the spread of corp members across the country; many have lost their lives during the course of "serving his/her father land", if there hadnt been NYSC, lives would not be lost.
2.the aim of NYSC is partly defeated cause to me 1- year is a complete waste of time especially for those posted to ministries, local govts and schools, normally you are expected to finish NYSC with a good cognate work experience either in your field of study or area of interest, but the scheme has done nothing but frustrate the intersest of innovating minds by sending a B.eng holder to a local govt to do what "play Politics or........"
ther truth is the downsides are more than the advantageous sides, so i stand on the part of "LET IT BE WIPED OUT" from the constitution of NIGERIA as an act or watever it is.

lets try to be more objective in our arguments. there is no system in Nigeria or even the world that does not have its own disadvantages. just because corps members die in motor accident does not warrant the scrapping of the scheme. what about these who lost their live on their ways to school, weddings Christmas ans sallah. only god gives live..... there must be a reason for one to die, crisis or no crisis, NYSC or no NYSC.
2. if a corps member is not privileged to serve in companies and banks, that is not enough reason to call for the scrapping. all corps members who served in good places will support the scheme, while those who were not so "lucky" will make themselves frustrated because they want to "hit it big" or "arrive" so that their peers will respect them. there is dignity in serving our fatherland irrespective of where you serve because it is God that gives the job and not NYSC.
3. the NYSC serves as a soft landing absorber for the labour market. imagine a final year student who just graduated and he is given an exemption letter to go and start looking for job...where will he start from. he has no experience at all. some corps members learn to write application during service, the serious ones get honours award and some even discover their potentials during service.

i prefer us to look at the policy itself and look at ways to reposition the scheme. countries like Gambia are introducing the scheme in their countries..
