This scholarship is not just for Imperial College London. Its actually for some schools in UK including University of Leeds, UK You can as well do some kinda research and locate what other schools offer this SPDC Niger Delta Scholarship. Note that most of these schools require that you must have secured at least a conditional offer for study for a course before you can apply for the scholarship. Good luck to all Niger Deltans

Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
Shell has started with this their myopic foolishness again.
Why have they decided to favour only the 3 Delta states when there are other oil producing states where they operate?
What are their plans for the other states where they operate (edo, akwa-ibom, abia, imo etc) ?
Are they trying to encourage these other states to catch up by blowing up pipelines and flow stations?
-
Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
@Lenski5a
You read my mind, spot on.
Maybe they require that some pipelines be blown before they can attend to the other states...oya na...lets go dier!
But its very obvious that ONLY candidates from the three states mentioned in the form can apply...BUT...no harm in trying if you meet the other requirements (Offer granted, etc) cos just maybe, the main states may not have people to fill the slots...very possible and happens very well in job vacancies where the requested experience is not gotten from the applicants, hence they have to make do with the candidats they have.
No harm trying.
-
Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
@Lenski5a
you have said it all, the greatest oppositions from Millitants in Nigeria is from the those states, the likes of Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo (Delta), Mr Victor Ben Ebikabowei (alias General Boyloaf from Bayelsa) & Soboma George(Rivers) are senior lecturers in the Department MILITANCY, FACULTY OF REBELS.These are people who can tell you about General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs) or Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launchers.
How many are from (edo, akwa-ibom, abia, imo). So on your marks
IF TO SAY I BE MILITANT, I FOR BE MMMHHHMMM????? (lol...)
-
Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
guys from the other Niger Delta states, please hold on
This is the maiden edition of the scholarship and a lot of negotiations are still ongoing. There is a reason why they have to start with these 3 states, sure more states will be added in subsequent editions.
That was the way PTDF started....and TOTAL also.
-
Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
lenski5a, Peacesofpeace, EL-AZAR..........
easy bro ........
this should instead be celebrated by all,
U may not know how painful it is to only behold exploration activities/benefits with "THE EYES ONLY"
Shell and other oil companies owe their "HOST COMMUNITIES" more, than what they are currently giving.
i bliv shell wont leave other producing communities in other states out.
this is just the beginning of a better Company-Community relationship.
-
Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
well said oilprince... It is jst starting so lets wait and see the subsequent scholarships... tho i think i myt not be able to secure admission in time...lol...
@El-AZAR: i blv they are beta known as freedom fighters not militants. SOme of this actions of the IOC is as a result of their actions... So i think they deserve some commendations
-
Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
...lol... God wil help us.
sincerely, my most pressing wish for now is a very good, high profile and well paying job, like 1M per month.

Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
Guys,
SPDC is giving back to the communities they make most of their money from. It happens with every company. Mobil has a separate Indigenous overseas masters scholarship - separate from the national one they give - which they don't advertise so u don't get to know Mobil gives indigenes scholarship if your are not an indigene. Total gives Obagi and most of Omoku free 24 hours electricity. You cant ask Total to give the entire Nigeria free electricity. In most undergraduate scholarship schemes, they have national merit and operational areas. These are all to give the host communities special attention. It is normal and constitutes the much touted CSR. Since this is the maiden edition, let's see how they will gradually introduce a national scheme that all others will benefit from.

Re: SPDC Niger Delta Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme @ Imperial College London
i cant find the link for this againmis it still on? coz its not april 30th yet

Reply
@oilprince- i lyk d spirit pray 4 d best and a high paying job is definitely praying 4 best. But Lemme advise u there's nothing lyk being tempted. Spread your dragnet wide. Apply for d jobs and as well for d skools..... At all at all na him bad. NoteThis scholarship's deadline is april 30th of which u must ve been granted provisional admission.....
It's honestly essential that Shell, chevron, total, mobil and all d IOCs provide this kind of opportunities for indigenes of their operational sites.. Cos that 'd be their way of rewarding these communities. Not to sound tribalistic 'm sure other regions of d country 'd ve demanded such had it being dt these IOCs were in their land.... Goodluck to those that re applying!
