Chunaf: thanks for ur timely info....how many pple were in the technical presentation panel and who were they made up of?
We all did same thing (MSc n BSc) sake presentations, and interviews. No differentiation! Lol
We were 7 yesterday n our assessors were 6 in numbers. Four from area of study (geology n geophysics for my own). And two from Human resource department. All will ask u questions.
I thought d tech presentation is different from d tech interview ?
@mrsmith: after ur presentations, comes the interview n plenty basic questions in ur area of studies. And people from ur fields will be there, if u studied mechanical engr, expect two assessors to interview you. Year 1 n 2 things basically n things u said in the course of ur presentations.
what about contact details of ur srd coordinator? was it emailed to u?
@chunaf. were the questions related to your presentation only or did dey ask you general questions from your undergraduate discipline?
@chunaf: I'm more interested in the case study. How was it and was it as difficult and most pple make it out to be. Around what time did the whole process end?
@chunaf, thank you very much for your timely contribution. You r blessed.
We started 7 n finished 7 yesterday. When u get to shell gate, call Mrs. Oke the number is in ur invitations, she will direct u. As per the case study, there's nothing to it. Its what they gave to study, u will be asked to give back, then ur field of study, know the basic things.(year one n two basically). Engineers should know physics wella sha! Lol! And relate it to either exploration production , maintenance etc with the e&p industry.
It is well! So basically we should know d basics of our field of study and also be able to relate out technical presentation to the oil and gas. The problem is wat will we be doin from 7am to 7pm!!! I am officially scared
@spatial: u shouldn't be scared. Its fun, and the guys re very friendly too. If u re confused, they will u out. I wasn't feeling fine yesterday n they suggested I should reschedule but I refused n they took care of me like they were ma parents. U will eat n play not forgetting what u came for however. Make jokes n etc. It takes time depending on the no. Of candidates anyways. Just go there , have fun n blast. Lol!
@chunaf: with all these questions I'm sure feel like u r in a press conference. Pls don't mind us. Were u told when the result of ur srd will come out?.
@chunaf, thanks for your contributions, were you told the likely resumption date/month? Thanks to your reply.
You will not be told ur results, but if u re made an offer, they will contact u. And resumption date is btw November ending n December.
@chunaf , who did u submit ur presentation 2??
@smith :Their [email protected]
one reason i luv chunaf ryt now is bcus he is consistent in replying our desperate questions...lol
Thanks bro!!! I luv d fact dat resumption is dis year.
Oya all of u let chunaf rest jor
chunaf. I hail thee. may your children be wise
@chunaf pls dd u submit ur presentation? Or the summary (word doc)?
Yea I did submitted the summary of my work.
Ok thanks :)
@chunaf thank you for all the heads up you have given, and for taking out time to clear lots of questions on our mind...u r great!
Triple C, u re my mentor. I'm loyal! Thanks a lot too!
Just thinking....For someone already working in d oil n gas industry, can he/she make a presentation on a successful job operation (which seems fresh in ones memory n in ones figer tips) or must it be final yr project?Pls advice....
All the best Guys!
Hello Chunaf,
Could you pls tell how long the interval was between the time you got your invite and when you did the SRD.I am asking cos I want to have an idea about the time frame given to come up with the Technical presentation. Thanks
@enny: I got my invite on the 20th of September, my srd was on the 3rd.
@chunaf - Thanks for your contributions. Please, did you also submit that Appendix 102 file (Technical Interview)? Or you just submitted the summary of the technical presentation?
Also, was it just to the [email protected] that you sent the above pls? They say to send to your recruitment coordinator, but no mention of who the person is?:confused:
@storck: I only submit the summary to their [email protected] ..save ur presentation in a flash drive, they will print a copy for u n three for themselves on that day. No projector presentations.
@chunaf. Pls in your presentation did you follow strictly the format in the instructions? e.g. did you create a slide for technical themes and lessons you learnt? since the slides are limited 12 I am hoping you can just mention this things instead of creating a slide? just to make way for other important stuff like extra results and recommendations slides
@joker: mine was morethan 12slides and there was no penalty.
@Otika, zealous, catalyst and the rest of the 'old guard'...what's d latest peeps? Folks from this year's SRD batch are already receiving medical invites...
Relax my broda, induction is by december latest.
fingers crossed... and keep praying
@mbello, dec induction is real, dose peeps kip saying relax if u ve passed shell interview u will definately be called weda it's after a year or two, make we just dey pray make e b dis year.
Okay. Let's bring a little reality and perspective into the discourse here! The precedent set from previous years doesn't make for happy reading for those on the 'waiting list'. In 2008 and 2009, a similar spillover occurred and after d SRD of d subsequent year was concluded, ppl invited for medicals and given offers, Shell HR sent regret mails to everyone on the queue after more than 1yr and 6 months!!! Two years in a row!
I had hoped 2011's case would somehow prove different, but from the look of things that may not be the case. Not to say I am a pessimist though, but we can safely infer that the firm priority will always be for the present year's intake. Miracles do happen, and that's all the hope to hold on to at the moment.
Over and out my good friends!
