@All,
This campaign MUST be a PEACEFUL protest! No weapons, no explosives etc!!! We must be educated and civilized enough to believe in the power of peaceful demonstration to actualize social change, and as young intellectuals we must lead by example!
So get your placards ready and invite as much media houses as possible to cover the protest. The goal is for our voices to be heard so they (NNPC) do the right thing and not to be destructive! We will also need a spokesman who can be chosen on that day to possibly address the media on our behalf. I can assure you that this will be enough. And if this first attempt does not do the work, we keep on persistently every other day.
So, start now to think about the slogans to put up on your placards like "NO to NNPC victimization" "NNPC give us our job" "We want our letters now!" etc etc. Here is a brief write-up on how to organize a peaceful protest from www.democracyeducation.net:
The following are the key steps to organizing an effective peaceful, legal action:
1. make sure you have the resources to do the action successfully, including the resources to ensure that the action will remain peaceful;
2. make sure you have a good reason the for action;
3. make sure the demands you make at the are clear; will action
4. make sure the action attract the attention the you are will of decision-maker trying to influence (and will influence them in a positive way);
5.make sure the action public awareness your and will build of issue/problem, build support for your solution(s) (if it won't, don't do it);
6. if you are planning a mass march, make sure a demonstration or other action, lot of people will actually show up (if they won't, don't plan a mass action);
7. remember the rule -- you 100 people come to of ll2 if try to call to the action, likely you will reach 50 people, 25 people will say that they will come, and 12 will actually show up;
8. check with other groups to ensure that other actions are planned the
not for same time, date or location, and to invite them to the action;
9. (signs, make creative, colourful, and large materials posters, banners,
costumes etc.) that deliver the message of your action in a very graphic way;
10. scout the location of the action to make sure it is the best place to hold the action you are planning;
11. check with the municipal, provincial or federal government (depending on the location of the action) and the police to make sure you have any permits you need to hold the action;
12. choose people play (host, to roles at the action speakers, information sources, observers to watch police, security, photographers, sound and video recorders, first aid, special guests etc.);
13. a dress rehearsal, (for puppet
hold if applicable example, street theatre plays or shows should be practised in advance);
14. that you have the you need the (for a confirm all equipment for action example, generator for electricity, microphones, sound speakers, megaphones, fences,
name tags, etc.); and
15. you want media coverage, prepare and send a alert if media to the media 2-3 days before the action, and prepare and send a news release to the media on the day of the action.
June 4th it is...letz go there
......fellow Hopefulls, i say it again....
D protest must hold! U dont know d power of a protest until u carry out one. Its more powerful dan unaswereable prayers at times.
Even if it doesnt give out our letters, atleast it'l give d icpc/efcc some job since d presidency hav been soft pedalling d subsidy probe reports. I guarantee u dat d presidency isnt resposible for d delay and may not even know abt it bcos we'v not let dem know. In dis country if u dont say ur problem no one'll solve it for u.
Brethren dis is d tym for our voice to b heard!
Imagine a simple retirement by abt 20 board members is more important dan over 44,000 fine graduates dat risked deir tym, resources and lives to sit for deir useless test.
Abeg we no go gree!!! Leave JA out! Leave Vin20 out! They'l only discourage u or worse still break ur hearts again.
The protest must hold.....
Our unanimous agreement on a date is very important my people. 4th or 14th. If its 4th let every body send capital 'FOURTH OF JUNE' in a post and same should be done for 'FOURTEENTH'. Lets roll
FOURTH OF JUNE
We shuld also try to agree on d time and venue where we will converge
FOURTH of JUNE 2012 by God's grace!
