Why i guess it culd b on saturday is bcos wen u check d gap of their response afta d deadline of the 1st questionaire to d 2nd one its 10days gap,so let no one blame me or any1 who is forecasting or predicting within their own I.Q. Lets hop in God dat He wil perfect d gud work He started... Its only God dat know those dat wil mak it
to d end, just grab Him. He wil do it. I wish u al gudluck in Jesus name.
9ice 1 guys. but i advice we let dis thread die till someone hears from GE again cos it really give me hypertension to see this thread at the top all d tym without a mail in my box from dem. i hope y'all get the cruz!
Hello! Dis email i got was ur application submission is on progress
ok i hope this will calm nerves, from research on GE s recruitment theres nothing like an aptitude test, so the next step will either be a phone interview or personal interview, it will be highly unlikely but worst case is an online test, as i said thats not ge s style.
"Those who have knowledge, don't predict. Those who predict, don't have knowledge." ~ Lau Tzu
For the number of stages! I have no idea! But i pray God sees us through.i hope GE's package for graduate trainee is something compared to those major oil top shots.i pray it does, and also i pray to see you all at the end of the road GE amen.
pls why not allow this thread to die till another info about this GE stuff comes up b4 we start giving ourself high BP for the sake of GE. By his grace we will all get something good to do.
The important issue here is, has GE done another communication? Has anyone received any update? It is pointless for people to speculate the next time GE might actually communicate.
"Bad reasoning as well as good reasoning is possible; and this fact is the foundation of the practical side of logic." ~ Charles Sanders Peirce
@mayor007, actuality not speculation is my business here.
...issues!
GE! O GE!! Why art thou keeping mute to thy potential employees???
Its on sat. mak una no worry. Den we wil kno who shuld drop n who shuld continue. All d best
guys dont fret
Guys plz we are not here to abuse each oda plz
Just wanted to touch on whats been said. I'm not applying for GE but my brother is (Got both stages of questions). I've been watching this thread for a while, since he started the process.
I know people who work at GE and its an American company, so things are done differently. The very top management are mostly Americans or Nigerians with extensive GE experience. No written test, the next step will be an interview, be it phone or in person and shortly after that they decide. This means a lot will most likely take place in the next 3 wks.
GE is a great company, not just to grow in, but to have on your CV. Their African division is mostly Energy related and while they've been on the African continent for a while, they are really trying to take advantage of the emerging markets, which we can see from some other American companies, such as Caterpillar and co. So expect to see a lot of jobs coming from them in upcoming months. Its not only engineers that they hire, but a wide range of business positions are available esp in sales/marketing, finance etc.
From what I hear, they are hoping to get the training program sorted out before the month ends, but who knows. Its open to everyone, not just Nigerians, but anyone really from around the world, who is eligible to work in the African country, since training wont just be in Lagos office but others such as Nairobi-Kenya, Luanda-Angola, Accra-Ghana, Jo'burg-South Africa etc.
Also knowing about their other training programs, once one gets the GE training, its like a shoe in, cause when you get done, now can apply for other positions within GE, that you qualify for that is. Now the pay I hear is ok but not jaw dropping, but sometimes in the early stages of career, its best to sacrifice salary for experience. Your experience is with you for your whole life, but your salary is just for today. I'd much rather take a pay cut and work in a position that will allow me great networking and a chance to build, than to run to be a manager in a place that keeps me stagnant at that higher salary for years.
I pray my brother gets it, and wish everyone the best.
@drkoy u hav spoken well, and extensively,we appreciate it,2b honest i don't tink any1 should still b askin questions after reading ur post. I wish all d applicants including ur broda d best...
Thanks Drkoy, this is the most reasonable and helpful insight received for the past couple of threads.
@Drkoy: u ar a staff.
That is very enlightening ...DrKoy
@ OJOCHIDEM. great piece.
If I may ask, if u were in the diaspora and u had a mid-level offer that requires ur expertize, in a location like Germany, would u abandon it for the GE graduate program as a naija man. pls give me pros and cons if u do have any
thanks
thanks brother. Pls is there any one in the house with contrary views. I would appreciate it. Some folks say that in naija one fit make up to 950K/month in Oil and gas and most of them do not talk of tax. I also hear the over time one could earn 3m/month. All I hear is benefits, allowance, bonus etc. But here middle income earners pay from 35 to 42% tax which brings down ur monthly earning. Is it true that
1. no tax on salary
2. that mid level career in big Oil and gas earn about 950K to 1.5M/month which is (Euro 4300- 6800). this is the mid carrreer scale over here , tho varies with company and job specification, but it is reduced by tax. I really want to know the truth.
\
dnt even think of it...stay at ur job for another few years then apply to GE as an experience hire. u will ave an edge (though unfortunate) over people who are in naija. graduate recruitment is not the only way into a company. just develop the skills that will attract GE to headhunt u. but the descision remains urs sha. goodluck
Ubuntu, such salary details may not be made public for many reasons.
Strong points hav bin made 2 encourage u 2 stick wit ur job in d diaspora until further notice. However, u must consider oda reasons dat may make u wanna leave ur ''present'' yankee job for a ''hopeful'' naija job.
How much are u paid in d equivalent? How much do u pay for tax? Accomodation? Health? Etc... Many of these foreign countries tend to KILL young naija hopefuls with binomial series of ''tax'' and discriminatory laws.
A good number of them are racists and they show it in many possible ways...without any caution whatsoever from their govt!
So, think about it. Would u choose to be a comparatively poorly-paid or well-paid ''outcast'' in a country with fully functional basic amenities (power, H20, etc) or would u rather be a respected freeman in ur slowly developing homeland?
just got anoda mail from GE invitinig me for an assessment in Eko hotels on the 17th who else is in the same boat with me? N guyz wat should we be expecting? An interview or an aptitude test?
Thank you guys (sync, babestell and OJOCHIDEM) for ur contributions. I appreciate so much. Now I am a step wiser than I was.
@ Dompet, could you the correspondence from GE so that the house would know. i would say personally if u are the only one who have got it, tell me what email service u are using, eg yahoo, then I would tell u what do and the script for me to see if it came from GE or it is a scam.
