VACANCY FOR THE POST OF A RETAIL ASSISTANT

Job Objectives
To ensure the provision of consistent and qualitative customer service to the customers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for direct and indirect sales while ensuring sales targets contribute to the overall company’s revenue targets per period.
Process payment and maintain periodic inventory counts for the Retail and Sales Manager.
Maintain proper records of customers’ transactions.
Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve customers’ complaints promptly on sales or other related transactions.
Communicate with Delivery to ensure distribution and deliveries of orders as requested by customers are always on time, at the customers’ convenience and at their expected quality, quantity and value.
Support, participate and promote hygiene assurance and awareness.
Assist in product selection for display.
Offers advice on products
Stock, replenish and keep sales and display areas clean.
Promote the company brand and endeavour to enhance the company’s image through appearance and behaviour.
Perform other duties as requested by the Retail and Sales Manager.

In-depth knowledge and understanding of the company’s value, purpose and products/services.
In-depth knowledge of the industry, its customers and the current trends.
Ability to contribute to the strategic goals of the company and convert strategy into action on the field.

Ability to set S.M.A.R.T objectives that will facilitate the achievement of the departmental goals. S.M.A.R.T refers to the acronym that describes the key characteristics of meaningful objectives, which are Specific (concrete, detailed, well-defined), Measurable (numbers, quantity, comparison), Achievable (feasible, actionable), Realistic (considering resources), Time bound (a defined time line).

Proactive decision-maker

Ability to look beyond the obvious/routine
Ability to devise a strategic marketing concept of winning customers.
Ability to question assumptions and encourage retention of customers

Oral & Written Communication skills

Ability to transmit information effectively i.e. in clear, unambiguous terms to customers, employees.
Ability to put in words the selling skills which will persuade a prospective buyer to give in to the company’s products.

Ability to influence others to do what is to be done.
Must possess good listening skills
Must be fair, goal oriented, responsible and skilled

Possession of inter-personal skills (Ability to interact effectively with people – all level of staff and customers )

Must be an energetic person with unusual initiative
Must be resilient, influential and possess the ability to see the big picture

Sound ethics and integrity.

Must be discernibly honest and of consistent upright character
Must be ethical

Good appreciation and working knowledge of office productivity tools.

Minimum Qualifications:
A first degree or its equivalent in any discipline.
A minimum of two(2) years cognate experience.
