JOB DESCRIPTION: ACCOUNTANT.

Functional relationships
- Directly responsible to the Finance and Admin, Officer (COP)
- Works in collaboration with other members of the URC Nigeria team

Job Summary
The Accountant will under the supervision of the Senior Finance and Administration Officer (SFAO) in designing, implement and ensuring adherence to financial policy, budgets and internal control measures. This position implement financial management function, produce timely financial reports, work in conjunction with SFAO in the preparation of budgets, and ensure compliance with CDC/PEPFAR and URC regulations regarding accounting, auditing and financial management requirements.

Job Description

1. Financial duties
· The Accountant with the SFAO will ensure the production of the following financial reports
a) Field financial reports-including copies of all bank statements, bank reconciliations, cash journals, Transfer sheets, Personal Advance Balance Reports, Grand Summary Sheets, supporting payment vouchers, petty cash journal and summarized expenditure reports-

b) Expenditure reports
c) Travel expense statements for staff and consultants
· The Accountant together with SFAO will be involved in monitoring the project budget
· The Accountant will:
a) Manage petty cash including ensuring the maintenance of an appropriate level of petty cash in safe deposit
b) Ensure that cheque are raised and signed correctly
· The Accountant will work with the SFAO to ensure proper expenditure tracking and will in addition work to develop programme appropriate expenditure tracking systems in line with budgets and project activities
· The Accountant will work with SFAO and staff to ensure that all costs in the project adhere to CDC/PEPFAR/URC regulations are in turn allowable, reasonable and allocable


QUALIFICATION.
The candidate should possess the following:
1. BSC in Accounting or its equivalent.
2. ACA or its equivalent.

Work Experiences.
· The candidate must have a worked with a USAID/CDC funded project or a similar organization for a period of not less than 2 years
· The candidate should be proficient in QuickBooks.
