research company in Lagos seeks
to immediately hire an Equity
Research Assistant Trainee. The
ideal candidate should have
committed themselves to a
career in investment research
and be very comfortable
scrutinizing numbers. This is an
excellent opportunity to LEARN
and GROW for a bright recent
graduate with either financial
internship during college or
professional examinations
enrolled with certain stages
already passed. Career seekers
in equity research sought; job
seekers need not bother

Responsibilities include but are
not limited to:
- Collect data, summarize notes
- Assist with reporting in Excel
- Conduct research on the
internet
- Handle requests from Analysts
- Call companies under coverage
to get information; compile
information
- Special projects as necessary
- Provide support by performing
market analysis
- Monitor company/sector news
and events and perform other
related duties as assigned
- Update the company’s
website daily with the required
information.
- Increase our client base
through reaching out to new
clients and explaining our
research products and why they
need to patronize us. This shows
you believe in what you are
doing and its relevance. –
Physically go out to collect
annual reports for companies
under coverage.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a 4-year degree
(2’1 or better) in Economics,
Finance, Statistics, Mathematics
or Accountancy
- Must pass our quantitative and
verbal aptitude test (No
exceptions)
- – Some knowledge of finance
and the stock market is REQUIRED
- Experience using the internet
to search for varied information
successfully
- Strong writing, communication,
and analytical skills
- Very strong computer skills,
especially on Excel
- Significant experience with
Excel
- Desire for a career in
investment research and not
just curious about a new job
- Comfortable communicating
with other people in person and
over the phone and confident to
face challenges and work under
pressure.
- Comfortable reaching out to
potential clients to increase
patronage of our research
products
- Comfortable thinking outside
the box and taking initiative

could lead to growth into an
Analyst role down the road.

Information reaching me has it that you will need the following to succeed in the company's overall assessments, interviews and on-the -job training:

1. Good quantitative skills which are assessed through a written quantitative aptitude test. When a friend's friend wrote the test, he was given about 25 or 26 questions to solve in roughly 24-26 minutes. Pass mark was >17. I believe the pass mark still remains this figure.

2. If you pass the quantitative aptitude test, you will be asked to sit a verbal aptitude test in other for the company to assess your verbal skills. The verbal test comprises a comprehension passage (a very short one), sentence completion, synonyms and antonyms, as well as singular and plural, words and opposite. There were about 36 questions to be answered in 30 minutes. Pass mark was > 21. The current pass mark shouldn't be less than this figure.

3. If you pass the verbal aptitude test, you will be congratulated and asked to complete 3 short essays. The essay, as I heard, tested applicants' writing skills and how well they can articulate their thoughts and put them in writing within few minutes. Grammatical errors, spelling errors and bad usage of tenses should be avoided as much as possible.

4. If you do well on the essays, you will be invited for an interview with the owner of the firm and his senior employees. As I got to know, you would be grilled on key concepts that are relevant to what the job function entails.

5. If you impress your interviewers, you may be made an offer. The salary falls in the range of 65K-100K per month.

There is no need applying if you are not interested in becoming a stock person in the future. Additionally, there is no need applying if you lack Excel skills and cannot work under critically intense pressure.
