BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

REPORTS TO: Program Director, Projects

JOB OVERVIEW
The Abuja-based Business Development Manager will look to expand and develop the organisation’s programme of activities across Nigeria.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The role will incorporate responsibility for:

• Identifying new business and partnering opportunities and income generation
• Business planning, presentations and budgets for development, expansion and management of specific organisational programmes across Nigeria
• Develop and populate a non-traditional database of potential funding sources such as funding agencies, foundations and corporations.
• Assume ownership of the business development process from opportunity identification through proposal preparation and submission. Take the lead in proposal writing
• Prepare and assist in negotiating teaming agreements, Memoranda of Understanding, sub-contracts with existing and new partners/funding agencies
• Provide content for marketing materials including brochures, web pages and correspondence as required.

Work Experience

• Proposal and bankable business plan writing experience• Managerial experience in business consulting, the international development, poverty alleviation (Bottom of the Pyramid), ICT, and agriculture desirable. Field-based experience is desirable.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

• Timely submission of Business Concept assessments;
• Accuracy & timeliness of management information and reports;
• External customer satisfaction level;
• Quality & Quantity of new BOP Strategy;
• Success and timeliness of Business Plan development & Submission
• Variance between planned and actual budget and unit activities.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATION

The successful candidate will have:
• A good first degree, MBA desirable
• Excellent skills in technical writing, budgeting, research, negotiation, and must have superior verbal and written communication skills in English;
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills;
• In-depth knowledge of MS Office Products: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint;
• Commitment to international development and to values-driven work environment;
• Resident in Abuja
