Job Title: Web Graphics Designer________________________________________

SUMMARY
This position is required in the Web Design/Development team of the Cross River State Government ICT Department. The holder will be responsible for all aspects of the design of Graphical User Interface (GUI) elements of Cross River State Government web applications.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Will be tasked with designing websites, microsites, flash animations, emails, banners and other GUI elements.

• Works in conjunction with Web Developers to deliver GUI aspects of client specification.

• Designs HTML emails to assist in driving Cross River State’s online brand marketing effort.

• Creates visual design prototypes.

• Provides GUI design for any third party web application being deployed for use across the Cross River State Government network.

• Interfaces with Cross River State Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for the purpose of delivering high quality web applications to satisfy the requirements of MDAs.

• Ensures that websites are free of font-end related errors and bugs.

• Resolves issues affecting website GUIs in a timely and professional manner.

• Takes full responsibility for delivery of new GUI functionality on websites as required by client MDAs.

• Contributes actively to technical discussions aimed at enabling greater efficiency and overall output from the Information Systems Unit.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Any candidate applying for this position MUST in addition to having the requisite skills and experience, have a natural flair for design and MUST be able to demonstrate this through an online portfolio.

Candidate MUST be an expert at using Photoshop CS3, Flash 8, Dreamweaver, HTML, JavaScript and CSS to achieve professional web designs. Experience in the use of JQuery is essential.

Experience in the use of Fireworks, InDesign or Illustrator will provide a distinct advantage.

This candidate should also have a good knowledge of W3C standards for web design.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent spoken and written communication skills are essential for this position.
