Position : Technical Project Manager (reporting to Head of Engineering)
Main Job Purpose
To take total accountability for the successful implementation of technical/engineering projects including Special projects, Transmission and BSS involving various technologies, for our customers in a professional manner and within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost. Also, to be responsible for setting up of processes, developing and managing technical resources required for successful delivery of various projects.
Duties include
? Provide high quality professional technical project management services to customers or to internal organisations
? Ensure that customer expectations are well managed and that project team roles and responsibilities are clearly understood, agreed to, and executed upon
? Ensure that each element of a project is professionally defined and initiated such as work breakdown structure, resource requirements, task accomplishments, project deliverables, critical paths and dependencies, communication and critical success factors
? Ensure quality is achieved as planned and as agreed with the customer
? Manage delivery by service partners/third party suppliers and manage the involvement of internal business units
? Minimise implementation costs by effectively managing deliverables
? Work with Operations manager to setup project accounting methodologies
? Setup and ensure that internal Project Management methodologies, standards, procedures guidelines and tools are applied / incorporated as required
? Leverage the internal PM resources and tools to improve standardisation and increase efficiencies in all aspects of Project Management and business operations
? Actively support company's further development of professional services, methods and tools
? To establish a system of training, and other opportunities for shared learning amongst those delivering projects, at regional and national level.
? Be responsible for the quality and overall integrity of projects
? Communicate progress with all stakeholders
? Support business development initiatives
? Responsible for tender/bidding application, proposals and bidding
? Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects.
? Manage the risks to projects successful outcome.
? To contribute to strategic planning of the organisation and oversee the development of an annual plan
? Report progress of projects at regular intervals to the General manager and/or managing director
? Act as point of contact for all technical/engineering equiries.
? Attending high level clients meeting on behalf of HoE or GM
Skills, Qualification and Experience Required
? Strong internetworking background and extensive experience in the technical project management of large infrastructures
? Minimum 5 years in telecoms industry
? PMI (Project Management Institute) certification desirable
? University degree in engineering or comparable practical experience desirable
? Working knowledge of various technologies, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, CDMA, Wi-Fi
? Experience with service delivery processes
? Experience of RF, Transmission, BSS and In-Building Coverage essential.
? Very good technical report writing skills
? Very good communication and presentation skills and experience with customer facing activities
? Candidate must speak English.
? Pro-active and pragmatic but well-structured
? Prepared to travel (national) regularly
