POSITION: Procurement Officer

LOCATION: LAGOS
Requirement:
  • Sound knowledge of basic business principles.
  • Knowledge of state contracting laws, regulations and procedures.
  • Must show firm understanding of procurement policies, processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of modern office methods, equipment and practices.
  • Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures in an assigned field
  • Computer literate
  • Able to produce activities report of findings and recommendations, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be a team player who will maintain cordial working relationship with all stakeholders.
  • 2yrs cognate experience
Responsibilities
  • Shortlist and recommend registration of contractors, vendors and suppliers
  • Work with legal department to vet suitability of prospective suppliers, contractors or vendors.
  • Raising purchase orders for goods and services.
  • Recommending purchase of goods and services within established limits.
  • Contacts suppliers for price quotes; prepares requisitions and recommending best prices.
  • Prepares periodic of suppliers pricing index and market verification.
  • Reviews and recommend purchasing policy with appropriate authority.
  • Confers with Procurement committee or vendors prior to preparing specifications to describe the items desired; makes recommendations to a higher level buyer.
  • Inform personnel of purchasing procedures and regulations; maintains purchasing records.
  • Contacts vendors or suppliers representatives to obtain availability and product information or to solicit bids; develops requests for quotations; and confers with vendors concerning new products, damaged goods, delayed payments or related information.
  • Assists higher level buyers with the selection of bidders, public bid openings, preliminary bid evaluation, brand comparisons and final award of bids.
  • Conducts research concerning new products and general commodity requirements.
  • May supervise the work of support staff processing requisitions.
The preferred applicant must have outstanding organizational skills and ability to gather information regarding the type and specifics of merchandise needed by the company.
