VACANCY: Community Manager: Nigeria


MIH internet is a leading ecommerce company in Africa . They are currently looking for candidates for above mentioned position.

The Community Manager: West Africa will become part of an exciting, innovative and truly global group with interests and well-known brands across Africa and in Europe, Asia and the Americas.





Key Responsibilities:



Demand generation and viral adoption: identify the drivers for adoption and implement tactics to make it viral and ubiquitous. Find the fastest way to spread usage and turn the service into a communication standard. In particular:

· Recommend viral ingredients that should be built into the service

· Define and implement strategies for viral word-of-mouth adoption

· Work with key influencers, communities, bloggers and press to bootstrap and foster adoption

· Define website and SEO strategies to increase organic adoption



Value propositions: identify most valuable usage cases for the service and articulate value propositions. Understand the mechanisms driving a user to spend time using the service, get addicted to it, and pay for additional services on it. Work with Product Management to help translate user value into features and user experience.



Monetization: Assist with identifying monetization paths for the service. Define offerings and criteria for conversion to paid subscribers based on value propositions and costs. Define pricing and work on revenue/cost model to turn the service into a profitable cash machine. Track and manage the funnel, in particular implement strategies to influence standard metrics typical of freemium models: ARPU, Churn, conversion rate, etc.



Competition and Positioning: analyze the competitive landscape and position/differentiate the service to reflect its transformative and innovating nature.



Distribution: Identify relevant relationships to accelerate adoption of the free & paid service. Work with existing players to gain faster access and penetration into their user bases and communities. In particular social media and micro blogging sites (e.g. facebook, twitter)



Launch plan: create and manage launch plan for the service and ongoing activities to encourage usage to grow the community.



Requirements



You have a strong drive and energy to lead all the marketing aspects of the product/service. In particular you are not afraid to create a new market and own it. In this role, you must be comfortable with solving complex problems, taking on big challenges, juggling between strategic thinking, and tactical and detailed execution. You are tech savvy and highly entrepreneurial in your thinking.



Your skills and experience include:

· 2-5 years experience in product marketing of an internet consumer product or as the founder of a internet start-up operation

· You are an active user of Facebook, Twitter and probably maintain a blog

· Strong communication skills, a passion for technology and consumers, high energy and enthusiastic

· For you, the word “product” evokes “value for the user”, “market opportunity” and “demand generation” rather than “features”

· High visibility individual: you are recognized as a leading figure of the high-tech community.

· Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills; outstanding people skills

· You are able to work with little direction, you are pro-active and take initiative

· You have a proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment

· You have experience with ecosystem partnerships and building business relationships

· You have experience with social media and viral adoption strategies. You understand grassroots adoption and business metrics for SaaS and freemium models

· You are a thinker and a doer. You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves. (If you are interested in a pure desk management job, this is NOT the right job for you!)

Core Qualifications

· A minimum of a three year tertiary qualification (a qualification in marketing would be an advantage)

· A minimum of 2 years marketing experience within the Nigerian/West African market or heading up your own internet start-up operation
