Job Vacancy: Public Affairs Officer
The Australian Embassy & Mission to the EU in Brussels have a vacancy for a Public Affairs Officer. This position is full-time and will commence as soon as possible.
Duties include:
- Monitoring EU and Belgian legislation
- Monitoring EU and Belgian media
- Providing background information on EU and Belgian issues with regards to Australian policies
- Contributing to the work of the Public Affairs Unit, including through sound coordination and organisational skills
- Providing support for events, including commemorations
- Contributing to management of official visits and individual visitors’ programs
- Other duties as required
Selection Criteria:
A. Knowledge of EU and Belgian institutions and political environments, and understanding of EU and Belgian legislation
B. Demonstrated ability to accurately identify and prioritise tasks
C. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and to have a pro-active approach to issues
D. Ability to develop and implement event planning
E. Demonstrate ability to be flexible, to focus on the achievement of outputs, and awareness of client service sensitivity
F. Demonstrate well-developed communication and liaison skills
G. Knowledge of French and Dutch would be highly desirable
