Every person has specific gifts, talents and strengths. Incredibly, many actually spend their entire lives trying to change the way they were made. Too many people overvalue what they are not and under value what they are. Too many people take their wants into consideration, never their talents and abilities. Deep down inside, if you are a musician, then play music. If you are a teacher, teach. If you are a farmer, farm. Be what you are and you will be at peace with yourself.

To make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting. Abraham Lincoln said “whatever you are, be a good one”.

When was the last time someone said to you “you are different” I believe that you and I are supposed to stand out, not blend in. Are not most of the discontented people, you know trying to be something they are not or trying to do something they are not supposed to do? Resolve to be yourself. Most people live their entire lives as complete stronger to themselves. Do not let that happen to you. The easiest thing to be in the world is you. The most difficult thing to be is what other people want you to be. Do not allow them to put you in that position. The opposite of courage is not fear. It is conformity. The most exhausting and frustrating thing in life is to live it trying to be someone else. You cannot become great by imitation. Imitation is limitation. Do not be a copy of something. Make your own impression.

Dare to think unthinkable thoughts. Develop an infinite capacity to ignore what others think cannot be done, life is too short to think small. You only become a winner if you are willing to walk the edge.

Most people could do more than they think they can, but they usually do less than they think they can. You never know what you cannot do until you try.

Great leaders are rarely “realistic” by other peoples standards. There is no thrill in easy sailing when skies are clear and blue. There is no joy in merely doing things which any man can do. But there is some satisfaction that is mighty sweet to take, when you reach a destination that you thought you would never make.

Have you met a highly successful person who has not faced fear about what he was doing with his life? Nothing significant was ever accomplished by a realistic person. A leader must face danger. He must take risk, the blame and face the brunt of the storm. All that is necessary to break the spell of inertial and frustration is to act as if it were impossible to fail. Most of the people who sit around and wait for the harvest have not planted anything. An average person does not want much and usually gets even less.

“Live is either a daring adventure, or nothing” (Hellen Keller).
