Senior Expert Needed at Leading Developer of CDM Projects in Lagos, Nigeria

Our client is a leading developer of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) related projects in Nigeria and is committed to furthering the sustainable development of both the country and the region. With support of its technical partner, it has developed strategies focused on projects that support sustainable development through carbon emission reduction. The Company works primarily on developing projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol. The Company supports Nigerian clients by identifying and evaluating potential CDM projects and seeing that the relevant documentation (Project Idea Notes, PINs and Project Design Documents, PDDs) are properly prepared and submitted to the U.N and relevant national agencies. Using the United Nations’ Framework Convention on Climate Change as a guideline, the Company is focused on CDM development, sourcing of high quality emission reduction projects and in advisory roles to governments and corporate organizations.

This position requires strong technical skills, intellectual understanding of carbon markets and projects as well as personal commitment to sustainable development.
JOB DESCRIPTION

Will have the principal responsibility to assure that the technical accuracy of the PINs/PDDs and that all information in these and related documents is properly developed and supported, correct and defendable to UN standards.

Responsibilities include, but is not limited to

1. Client relations:

a. Work with clients to develop the technical information required for PIN/PDD development

b. Assure that client projects are technically sound and insure that the necessary conditions for their implementation exist.

2. PINs and PDDs

a. Technical data and drafting of PINs

b. Assisting in the collation of information necessary to write PDDs) Project Design Documents)

c. Responsible for all quantitative analysis related to project technical description, baseline development, economic analysis, and monitoring plans

d. Work with and direct consultants and appropriate staff on these issues.

3. Administrative

a. Assist senior business developers with day to day task management

b. Responsible for producing activity reports and calculations

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Skills/ Qualification required:

1. BSc or MSc level qualification in Engineering or Sciences with minimum of 3 years working experience.

2. Basic knowledge of technical aspects of Clean Development Mechanism an advantage but not a must

3. Hardworking team player attitude, ability to manage own tasks

4. Commitment to sustainable development and climate issues.

5. Excellent spoken and written English
