Article marketing, I can say it’s the science of traffic, and I tell you it’s more of science to art at least for me don’t know about others anyway.

For starters, you need to make sure you target the keywords that are going
to give you the most bang for your buck, or give you the best chance of
getting the most views.

Then the article has to be structured in a way that is going to achieve
its goal. And that goal is NOT to have somebody read it and say "What a
great article" but read it and say, "Good article. I need to get more info
from this guy." If they walk away getting everything they need to know,
then your article failed. They must link back to your site.

To that end, this is how I structure my article.

Title - Keyword phrase in beginning and then hook at the end. The hook
is the phrase that gets them to want to read.

Example: Internet Marketing Tips - 3 Killer Ways To Generate
Traffic To Your Blog

Intro - This paragraph tells the reader exactly what they're going to
get out of the article. That way, they know what's coming and it gets
them excited to want to read further.

Body - Tells them what you said you were going to tell them in intro. I
make it straight to the point. No more, no less.

Summary - I briefly summarize the above.

Resource Box - Mine is all formula. It's in 3 parts.

1. Remind them of their pain.
2. Give them URL that will help them.
3. Tell them benefit of going there.

Marketing - I don't just rely on the directories or the search engines to
get me visitors. I also use social bookmarking and networking such as
Digg and Twitter. I'll send an email to my list about articles I feel are
particularly important.

Most of my articles are for the purpose of building my list, where I then
give them more content and build their trust.

This is what works for me. As I said, it's as much science as it is art. Yes,
you have to write well enough to keep somebody's interest. But if you
don't structure your articles in a way where people will want to learn
more, you haven't done your job.

Anyway, hope this helps.
