1.0 RATIONALE BEHIND THE TRAINING

This Training Course is put together to enable participants gain expertise from real-world situations that bridge theory with practical applications. It is also meant to empower fresh Engineering Graduates to get the necessary skills that will enable them to be employable. This is a fact because most of our graduates do not have the required skills to function in the global World.

• Understand Code required for pipeline Engineering
• Size a pipeline
• Calculate pipeline wall thickness.
• Understand and design LACT unit.
• Design pig Launcher/Receiver e.t.c.
• Understand welding procedure specification(WPS)
• Understand Welder Qualification Test(WQT)
• Understand the function of Alignment Sheet
• Pipeline construction reporting format

3.0. COURSE CONTENT

The Training course is centered on the following codes; B31.4, B31.8,
BS 8010-1, API 5L, API 1104 etc. The course is divided into two parts-
• Basic Engineering and
• Detail Engineering of Pipeline major components.

3.1. BASIC ENGINEERING DESIGN OF PIPELINE

• Pipeline Hydraulics
• Pipeline Stability and Weight Coating
• Pipeline Mechanical Design
• Pipeline MTO

3.2. DETAIL ENGINEERING DESIGN OF PIPELINE COMPONENTS

• Pig Launcher and Receiver Design
• LACT Unit Design

3.3. PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION

• Pipe stringing
• Pipes alignment and fitting
• Joining techniques
• Ditching or trenching techniques
• Pipeline Tie-in Techniques
• Lines lowering techniques
• Backfilling of trench


4.0. TRAINING STRATEGIES

This training is practical base and it is going to be centered on a TYPICAL ENGINEERING DESIGN OF AN OIL AND GAS PIPELINE PROJECT THAT WORTH SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND US DOLLARS ($600,000)

5.0. TRAINING DATE, DURATION AND VENUE

• DATE: 3rd – 5th October, 2010.
• DURATION: 3 days
• TIME: 9.00am – 5.00pm daily.
