Channel Concepts (BCH, CCCH, DCCH & TCH), Subscriber services, Digital Radio Transmission, Traffic cases, Billing / Tariff Structure.
MODULE 2:- CDMA Technology
CDMA Network Elements (PSTN, MSC, HLR, VLR, BSS), CDMA Channels (Physical & Logical Channels), CDMA Codes (Walsh Code, Long Code, Short Code), Mobile Station Handoffs (Soft & Softer Handoffs), Voice Signal Conversion & Flow, Basic Call Processing.
MODULE 3: - BASE STATION SUBSYSTEM (BSS) ENGINEERING
Typical BTS site, BTS configurations / Installation, DIP Switch setting, Detection of Alarms, Troubleshooting & Commissioning the BTS
Typical BSC site, BSC Configuration / Installation, Configuring the Abis & Ater interfaces , Loging into the BSC using vendor specific software, BSC Maintenance.
MODULE 4: - RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) PLANNING & OPTIMIZATION
Dimensioning the BSS, Estimation of Cell Radius, Estimation of number & capacities of BTSs / BSCs for any specified geographical area, Selecting the antennas / Sites, Assigning frequencies using 1X1, 3X3, or 4x3 frequency re-use partterns, Planning of Neighbour cells / Location Areas, Single Site Verification, RF / KPI Optimization, Network Acceptance.
MODULE 5:- TRANSMISSION ENGINEERING
Different Transmission Media, Different Multiplexing Techniques, Distribution of E1 signals from MSC to BTSs via the BSC, Planning / Implementation Microwave Radio Links (PDH/SDH) using Path loss software, VSAT Installation / Maintenance & Commissioning, Introduction to Fibre Optics, Splicing, Connectorization & Implementation.



MODULE 6:- UMTS / WCDMA SYSTEM ENGINEERING
Different types of 3G networks & and their Evolution, Upgrading GSM (2G) network to UMTS (3G), UMTS network components (UE, UTRAN & CN), UMTS network structures (R99, R4, R5), UMTS services (Camel Phase 3, LCS, MMS), UTRAN network components (Node B & RNC), Single / Distributed NodeB Installation, Commisioning & Integration.
