Sometimes this question is employed to get you off the job bcos the emloyer fees that going by your credencials, he may not be able to meet up with your demand(s) financially. You get the gist? But if you need the job badly as you said, you need to turn that -ve comment from the emloyer to a +ve one. I mean turn it to your strength. For example, YOU CAN SAY: In my search about your company or organization, I realised you need people of my experiece and qualifications who can bring more value and easily achieve the organizational goal(s) and objectives within a short period of time, with little or no supervision. Use your WIT. You just have to sell yourself as others rightly commented. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PRAYERS. Best of luck.
