Reacting to Waziri‘s claim that certain corrupt Nigerians were involved in the activity, Eso insisted that Waziri must name and arrest the individuals without further delay.

He added that it was not enough for Waziri to make political statements, saying that she must take necessary action on the errant Nigerians.

Eso spoke at a public lecture in Lagos, organised in his honour by the Centre for Law and Business.

It was entitled ”Corporate Governance, Challenges for Law and Business.”

He further identified corruption as the bane of the country‘s quest for socio-political development, saying that the social evil must be fought to realise the country‘s full potential.

The former JSC added that the two anti-graft bodies, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission and the EFCC were not doing enough to curb the evil.

He said, ” The EFCC has the duty to fight corruption in the country so if it sees any case of corruption it should act and not just make political statements about it. If some Nigerians are buying houses overseas with corrupt funds, they should be arrested and prosecuted.”

Eso further told the audience that his recommendations on how to nip corruption in the bud were never implemented
