People were being dragged out after deadly explosions at Colombo Church the Sri Lanka’s capital, killing worshipers.
People didn’t know what was going on, it was panic mode, said Bhanuka Harischandra a 24-year-old founder of a tech marketing company who was going to the Shangri-La Hotel for a meeting when it was bombed.
However, the killed were mostly Sri Lankans, the three bombed hotels and one of the churches, St. Anthony’s Shrine, are frequented by foreign tourists, and Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry said the bodies of at least 27 foreigners from many of countries were seen and recovered.
Most countries that lost their citizens are: U.S./ Americans, Britain, India, China, Japan and Portugal.
Further to this, streets were largely deserted Monday morning, most shops closed and a heavy presence and deployment of police and soldiers.
