I know a lot of people will be wondering what kind of question is this, or why did I ask? If you think this is a dream, then you are dreaming. Yeah, after my graduation, I started searching for jobs in the oil and gas industry, I saw a thousand and one people struggling for the same opportunity and position applied for. This is just a couple of years back.. Some of these prospective employees have been in the so-called labour market for an appreciable number of years even before I arrived then. That means more job seekers but less companies to actually accommodate them. Now, I have been working as a safety personnel in a servicing company run by a young vibrant, bold and thoughtful MD. I got interested to know how the company started and to my surprise they actually began as 'bolt and nut' suppliers to a O&G producing company but now has become a major player/specialist in Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Maintenance with close to a thousand onshore/offshore personnel. Let me not bore you with those magnitude of details....

Well, I thought to myself one fateful day in the office, if this man (the MD) had not actualize his vision to run an indigenous O&G servicing company, maybe a lot of his workers now would have still been in the streets looking for jobs. I understand quickly that oil producing companies alone can not absorb a greater percentage of these job seekers but the servicing companies can carter for that.
In this regards, over the years a lot of visionaries have seized this opportunity to open their own servicing company thereby
making wealth for themselves and most importantly creating thousands of jobs opportunities. I have seen applicants turned contractors, entrepreneurs and so on. You know the major players in this industry try dig into their background and you will be surprised on how they started small.

My point here is that you job seeker or worker may have the potentials to start your own company today or tomorrow. Two things are deeply beneficial;
1. You will create wealth for yourself
2. Create job opportunities for others including host communities
Therefore, you can see that the answer to the above topic is simply 'YES'.

I am charging you today to start your servicing company. Go out there, seek for oil and gas investors, ask questions here and there. The oil and gas sector is very large, so your own additional company will not make it shut down.
